In 2009, Toyota has recalled nearly eight million vehicles in the United States for two
mechanical safety defects that can cause unintended acceleration: ā€˜stickingā€™
accelerator pedals and a design flaw that can cause accelerator pedals to become
trapped by floor mats. These recalls were triggered by a car collision in August 2009
that took the lives of four people. When NHTSA(National Highway Traffic and Safety
Administration)

INTRODUCTION:
REASON FORTHECRISES:
ā€¢There is absolutely no evidence of sudden unintended acceleration caused by
electronic problems in Toyota vehicles
ā€¢There has been only one documented accident caused by the floor mats ā€” the one
involving the loaner Lexus, where the dealer had used the wrong floor mat and
failed to attach it properly with the provided restraining clips
ā€¢ There have been no documented cases of accidents caused by the very small
number of sticky pedals. Most accidents have been attributed to driver error.
ā€¢Toyota did not know how to handle them. Rather than say that they are
investigating the complaints and will issue a complete report at the conclusion of
their investigation, Toyota representatives reacted to the complaints in ways that
confounded marketing and crisis management experts.

MANAGERIALSKILLS:
Technical skills are the knowledge and capabilities to perform field-specific, specialized
tasks. These skills enable a manager to coordinate work, solve problems, communicate
effectively, and also understand the big picture in light of the front-line work that must
be performed.
Interpersonal skills are the behaviors and tactics a person uses to interact with
others effectively. In the business world, the term refers to an employee's ability to
work well with others. Interpersonal skills range from communication and listening
to attitude and department.
Conceptual skills allow a manager to visualize the entire organization and work with
ideas and the relationships between abstract concepts. Human skills, also called human
relation skills, require communication and attention to relationships with others.
IMPLEMENTATIONOF STRATEGY:
ā€¢Technical skills help to examine the current problem of toyota regarding brake
failure
ā€¢To find the major drawback of toyota cars, they called back 8.8 million vehicles.
ā€¢Interpersonal skills helps to communicate with his/her sub-ordinates about the
problem and get collection of ideas and implementing to solve the scenario.
ā€¢As toyota is a centralized organization ,decisions will be taken by ceo and every
individual should carry on the project.
Conceptual skills helps to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of the critics.
ā€¢According to toyota they had a good customer relationship and good performance.
ā€¢Quality, Safety
ā€¢Brand image, Reputation
ā€¢Responsibility
ā€¢Management
ā€¢Customer supports
ā€¢These are the skills and techniques help to overcome toyota critical situation in an
organization and managerial solution.
CONCLUSION:
The managerial skills used by toyota to overcome the crises is Technical skills,Interpersonal
skills and Conceptual skills.
