Coronavirus disease 2019 COVID 19 , which causes serious respiratory illness such as pneumonia and lung failure, was first reported in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei, China. The etiological agent of COVID 19 has been confirmed as a novel coronavirus, now known as severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 SARS CoV 2 , which is most likely originated from zoonotic coronaviruses, like SARS CoV, which emerged in 2002. Rapid diagnostics, vaccines and therapeutics are important interventions for the management of the 2019 novel coronavirus 2019 nCoV outbreak. Currently, various diagnostic kits to test for COVID 19 are available and several repurposing therapeutics for COVID 19 have shown to be clinically effective. In addition, global institutions and companies have begun to develop vaccines for the prevention of COVID 19. Here, we review the current status of, diagnosis, and vaccine development for COVID 19. This was a lecture I gave for the Upstate Nurse Practitioners Association. This is a comprehensive overview. I would to thank all health care professionals for doing their jobs as well as they can.
This is a lecture I gave for the Upstate Nurse Practitioner's Association September 29, 2020. Parts may no longer be valid, because the topic is changing so rapidly. I did the best I could.
The first section of Part III will cover the most immediate healthcare response - which is to test and diagnose patients for COVID-19, to get a clear picture on the extent of the spread of infection. It also covers the current technologies used in diagnostics: RT-PCR, LAMP, Lateral Flow and ELISA. It would also highlight key companies and comparison of the technologies involved.
COVID 19 chief health officer update | Nick TsagarisNick Tsagaris
Victoria was notified of 21,728 new cases of COVID-19 yesterday. All cases were locally acquired except for one, which was acquired overseas.
There are 69,680 active cases in Victoria. The total number of confirmed cases in Victoria since the beginning of the pandemic is 274,123.
Sadly, the Department was notified yesterday of six deaths of people aged in their 70s, 80s, and 90s.
The 10 LGAs with the highest number of new cases are Casey, Melbourne, Brimbank, Melton, Hume, Greater Dandenong, Moreland, Port Phillip, Stonnington, and Wyndham.
Suddenly the risk-reward balance has shifted dramatically. Anyone with basic cold symptoms is being advised to stay home. And many people can no longer travel with COVID-19 in their community.
What if you can no longer visit your sites? Are you ready to use the tools at your disposal as contingency or risk-mitigation strategies to keep your studies going and ensure your patients can access their study medication and remain safely monitored?
During this virtual discussion forum were putting our minds together to combat the impact of the Coronavirus outbreak on clinical trials, and be better prepared in the future.
We are a full-service FDA-approved COVID testing company. We provide medical assistants to help facilitate the tests and our FDA-approved CLIA certified labs across the US and can process over 400,000 tests per day. Visit us at https://www.uscovidtesting.info
