The Consulate General of Saint Lucia in Miami is closely monitoring an outbreak of a respiratory illness caused by a novel (new) coronavirus COVID-19, first identified in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China. In an effort to keep abreast with information regarding COVID-19, our team at the Consulate has been reviewing updates received from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as it relates to measures being implemented by the U.S. Government aimed at responding to and containing COVID-19.

Dear Fellow Nationals,
The Consulate General of Saint Lucia in Miami is closely monitoring an outbreak of a
respiratory illness caused by a novel (new) coronavirus COVID-19, first identified in Wuhan,
Hubei Province, China. In an effort to keep abreast with information regarding COVID-19,
our team at the Consulate has been reviewing updates received from the Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as it relates to measures being implemented by the
U.S. Government aimed at responding to and containing COVID-19. The team has also been
monitoring the World Health Organisation (WHO) and Florida Health Department websites
as well as major US news networks.
As a general guide for everyday preventive actions to help avert the spread of respiratory
diseases, the CDC recently published the following recommendations:

Recommendations include the following:-
• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and
water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands
• Avoid close contact with people who are sick
• Stay home when you are sick
• Cover your cough or sneeze with tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash
• Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces

The CDC also suggests keeping yourself informed as it relates to the release of new
information and following public health advice regarding school closures, avoiding crowds,
and other social distancing measures.
