8. What is HOMEO-PATHY?
the main principle of homeopathy, the one that
distinguishes homeopathy from any other healing
method is in its name:
Homeopathy (also homoepathy; from the
Greek ὅμοιος, homoios, " similar" + πάθος,
pathos, " suffering" or " disease") is the
term used by German physician Dr. Samuel
Hahnemann (1755-1843) who recognized the
principle of “Let Like be cured by like” or
short “Like cures like” - “Similia Similibus
Curentur”, also known as “Law of
Similars” to be the most effective natural
principle of healing.

9. What is ALLO-PATHY?
Allopathy (from the greek prefix ἄλλος, allos,
"other", "different" + the suffix πάϑος, pathhos,
"suffering, disease or feeling") a system of
medicine that combats disease by using remedies
that produce effects in a healthy subject that are
different from the effects produced by the disease
to be treated. Meaning "other than the disease",
Hahnemann intended the term to point out how
conventional physicians merely treated symptoms
and failed to address the disharmony produced by
the underlying disease.

12. Law of similars - Like cures like
- described by Hippocrates and Paracelsus and was
utilized by many cultures, including the Mayans,
Chinese, Greeks, Native American Indians, and
Asian Indians, but it was Hahnemann who codified
the law of similars into a systematic medical
science.

person (observed in homeopathic proving process)

25. Brief History of Homeopathy in USA
Homeopathy gained great fame due to its
success during epidemics, and, by 1900, it was
practiced by one in five medical doctors in the
U.S.
In late 19th century in the US there were 22
homeopathic medical schools, over 100
homeopathic hospitals, and over 1,000
homeopathic pharmacies. Many homeopathic
practitioners were graduates of elite medical
schools and many hospitals were originally
homeopathic institutions because of very
successful therapeutic results and cost
effectiveness.

26. Women in Homeopathy
Homeopathy was also disproportionately
popular among women, not only as patients, but
as its practitioners.
 The first women's medical college in the world was the
homeopathic Boston Female Medical College, founded
in 1848. Four years later it became the New England
Female Medical College, and in 1873, it merged with
Boston University, another homeopathic college.
 Homeopaths also admitted women physicians into their national
organization considerably before orthodox physicians did.
Homeopaths admitted women into the American Institute of
Homeopathy in 1871, while women were not invited into the A.M.A.
until 1915.The orthodox medical school at Johns Hopkins finally
agreed to accept women students as late as 1890, but not out of
interests in women's rights. They were offered a $500,000
endowment.Harvard turned down this same offer.

27. Revival of Homeopathy
 In the light of growing interest in holistic medicine in mid 20th
century homeopathy started to be rediscovered again. Sales of
homeopathic medications in the United States are estimated to
exceed $437,3 milion in 2018 (at retail).

 According to the World Health Organization, homeopathy is
second-largest and the fastest-growing medicine in the
world.
 In India alone, 100 million people use it exclusively to stay
healthy although they already have their other traditional
medicine systems (ayurveda,unani, siddha).
 Up to 70% of French doctors consider homeopathy effective,
and at least 25,000 prescribe it for their patients.
 A 2011 report by the government of Switzerland, a bastion of
pharmaceutical headquarters, concluded that homeopathic
medicine was both effective and cost-effective, and
recommended that it be covered by their national health
insurance.

28. WHO on Traditional and
Complementary Medicine
The trend in the development of national policies
on T&CM among Member States from 1999 to
2018 - consistent increase in the number of
Member States having a national policy on
T&CM, with the number almost doubling
between 1999 and 2005, and then doubling
again between 2005 and 2018. By 2018, a total of
98 countries, more than 50% of the 194 Member
States, had a national policy on T&CM.

common form of alternative medicine in the world
today and the most common form of alternative

homeopathy.

The New York Times noted that visits to homeopathic
physicians are increasing in England at a rate of 39% per
year.
A British consumer organization surveyed its 28,000 members
and discovered that 80% had used some form of
complementary medicine* and that 70% of those who had
tried homeopathy were cured or improved by it.
The British Medical Journal 42% of the physicians surveyed
refer patients to homeopathic physicians.
The Times of London found that 48% of physicians referred
patients to homeopathic physicians.
British Medical Journal a survey of 100, 80% of recently
graduated British physicians expressed an interest in being
trained in either homeopathy, acupuncture or hypnosis.

approx 11,000 physicians utilize homeopathic
medicines, approximately 25% of the French public
have tried or are presently using homeopathic
medicines, and over 20,000 French pharmacies now
sell homeopathic medicines.This survey also noted
that courses in homeopathy leading to a degree are
offered in six medical schools. Homeopathy is taught
in all pharmacy schools and in four veterinary
schools. President Mitterrand and six medical school
deans had called for more research on
homeopathy.The author editorialized, "It is a fact that
homeopathy obtains results, sometimes spectacular
results."

32. India
 Mahatma Gandhi, who was reported to have said that it
"cures a greater number of people than any other
method of treatment," but also because it has been
effective in treating many of the acute infectious
conditions and the chronic maladies on the subcontinent.
As an article in the World Health Organization's journal
World Health Forum noted, "Homeopathic treatment
seems well suited for use in rural areas where the
infrastructure, equipment, and drugs needed for
conventional medicine cannot be provided." (79)
Homeopathy is also considerably cheaper than
conventional medicine, and any person, not just
physicians, can learn to use a small number of
medicines for simple common complaints.

34. South America
 Argentina - General San Martin, reported to have
taken a kit of homeopathic medicines across the
Andes in his efforts to free Chile and Peru from Spain
in 1816. Dr. Francisco Eizayaga, has estimated that
there are now approximately 2,000 doctors in
Argentina who practice homeopathy, and
approximately 3 million of Argentina's 30 million
people have used homeopathic medicines.
Brazil - approximately 2,000 physicians who utilize
homeopathic medicines. Pharmacists in Brazil are required to
take a course in homeopathic pharmacology in order to
graduate. There are at least 10 homeopathic schools in Brazil,
and several conventional medical schools have coursework in
homeopathy.

Today we have several hundreds of qualified
homeopaths. About half are physicians. The
continued organized training was provided
by London College of Classical Homoeopathy
International in early/mid 1990-ees.

37. Homeopathic fame - EPIDEMICS
 successful treatment of various infectious epidemics over
the centuries!
 Records indicate that death rates in homeopathic hospitals
during 19th century epidemics were often 1/3rd to as little
as 1/8th the rate in hospitals practicing conventional
medicine. During an 1849 cholera epidemic in Cincinnati,
Ohio, only 3% of 1,116 homeopathic patients died, while
the mortality rate at conventional hospitals was between
48% and 60%.
 In yellow fever epidemic of 1878 that spread throughout
the south the death rates of those under homeopathic care
were approximately 1/3rd of what they were for those using
orthodox medicine.

Many people used microdoses during
the cholera epidemic of 1831. Statistics
show that those with cholera who tried
homeopathy had a mortality rate

conventional medical care died.

2007/2008 - the largest homeopathic trial in
modern medical literature took place in Cuba,

As of March 22, 2020, had telephone and
video-conference contacts with 84 patients.

 Fever with temperature rising in the early afternoon,
resistant to common antipyretics.

characteristics of a neuralgia.
 Dry and irritated cough, perceived only as a discomfort in
the upper respiratory tract.
 Poor appetite and little thirst, despite the fever.
Preference for salty foods. Preference for hot drinks as
opposed to water.

 Victim attitude, without any difficulty in expressing anger
towards those who attend to the “other managers” of their
pathology. Patient believes he did all one could to not
become infected. Puts the blame for the state of one’s
condition on others for not paying adequate attention.
 NB: HRx Muriate of Quinia. C20 H24 N2 O2, HCl, 3H2 O.*
China was used as antimalaric drug. Hydroxychloroquine
was used to treat Covid-19 at the beginning of epidemic
March-Jun

 Fever with sudden increases in temperature (poussee de
fievre) 2-3 times within 24 hours.
 Weakness more evident in the early morning.
 Throbbing headache, predominantly occipital, that improves
by sitting-possibly with a desire to lie down, the pain however
disallowing one to do so.
 Dry cough with the feeling that one must expectorate even in
the absence of phlegm. Insistence on getting rid of
insignificantly small amounts of mucus (which, despite little
objective change, brings a subjective sense of relief).
 Paroxysms of an apparently suffocating cough.

52. Grindelia robusta
 Aware of anxiety, unable to distinguish between
objective breathing difficulty and a subjective feeling
of an inability to breathe, with the fear that he must
go quickly to the hospital.Worried about falling asleep
and not being able to breathe during sleep, may want
to sleep with the light on.
 Conjunctivitis that affects one eye first and then the
other.
 Joint pains especially in the lower limbs.

53. Grindelia robusta
More fearful attitude than with Chininum
muriaticum.
Tends to deny symptoms to family members
for fear of having inadequate resources.
Aware of hypochondria - alarmed that she
cannot distinguish between objective and
subjective symptoms.

54. 3. Camphora
(Cinnamomun camphora)
 Continuous fever with no obvious changes during the day
accompanied by sweating, chill, and a sense of incipient
fatigue which worsens with continued sweating.
 The headache has a feeling of pressure from the inside to
the outside attempts to contain this sensation by exerting
external pressure with something that tightly binds the
head.
 Cough less evident than in the previous two remedies
which nevertheless seems to tire the patient. The cough
appears with deep inhalation, meanwhile superficial
breaths seem insufficient and cause worry, leading to
more deep breathing and more coughing.

55. Camphora
Dyspnea with minimal exertion, despite the
fact that objective oxygen saturation may be
adequate.
Watery and persistent rhinorrea (post-nasal
drip).
Diarrhea without abdominal pain.
Oliguria (scantiness of urine) perceived with
alarm as more serious than it is.

Confusion and concern about being
dangerous to one’s family members.
Convinced that during this illness one is
having a momentous experience
relative to the overall course of one’s
life.

Rapid decline, mother tried different remedies.
Urgent call. Sxs laying down, prostration, air hunger
(opened windows), wants to be fanned,blue lips - Rx.
Carbo-veg 30C, able to sitting upright within 5 min,
speedy recovery in 3 days, no relapse.

“Current management of Covid-19 is largely based
on experience and empirical evidence. Therefore,
what is conventional and what is alternative is
