Muslim Ummah in Facing the Challenges of Globalization (Presented in Tehran)Mohd Abbas Abdul Razak
This presentation on globalization among others discusses the nature and differences that exist between the modern and Muslim concepts of globalization. Since it is not possible for the Muslims to live in total isolation from the things that are happening in a globalized world, they can at least come up with a strategic plan in how to position themselves in dealing with the issues and problems related to globalization. Besides that, this presentation also highlights the ideal scenario that should be prevalent in the Muslim world that can be beneficial for the Muslims as well as for others who share the space with them in this world. In realizing how the internet and social media have been wrongfully used in a globalized world, the presenters suggest on how the Muslims can use them in a productive and ethical manner. The last thing that this presentation intends to highlight is the philosophy of co-existence which should be given due consideration by people of different civilizations that live on this planet. It is the conviction of the presenters that people of different civilizations can learn all that are positive from one another and can live in peace and harmony.
The Universal Peace Federation and its global network of Ambassadors for Peace bring universal, spiritual principles to the task of resolving conflict and reconciling the divided human family. International Leadership Conferences, symposia and peace councils offer opportunities for high-level consultations. These are complemented by "track II" diplomacy and grass-roots programs that build support for a culture of peace.
World peace can be fully accomplished only when the wisdom and efforts of the world’s religious leaders are combined cooperatively and respectfully with the endeavors of national political leaders. Absent the recognition of spiritual principles, the world has drifted increasingly toward analyses and prescriptions that are materialistic and secular in nature. In so doing, we have lost sight of the profound wisdom to be found in humanity’s spiritual heritage.
Global institutions must be built on a foundation that takes into account the full potential of the human being, not only as a political, economic, and social being, but also as a spiritual being with spiritual needs and a capacity for spiritual wisdom and insight. The legacy of the world’s great saints, prophets, sages, and spiritual leaders cannot be denied or discounted without ignoring what is most fundamental about the human being.
In too many ways the history of religion has been marked by narrow sectarianism, strife, and competitive struggle with other faiths, all to the detriment of the cherished goals and teachings of the founders and scriptures. This cannot continue. The need to eliminate corruption, selfishness, and bad governance applies not only to all nations but also to all of the world’s religions.
Lasting peace depends on cooperative partnerships between governments and religions, as well as NGOs and representatives of the private sector. The United Nations can benefit from a council of religious and spiritual leaders to bring broad vision and wisdom to the effort to address critical global problems. International conferences, publications, networking, and on-the-ground activism are mechanisms for interfaith cooperation and lay a foundation for spiritual renewal at the United Nations.

UNIVERSITE D’ABOMEY- C A L AVI COTONOU, BENIN, DURING HIS RECENT M O S T
SUCCESSFUL VISIT IN GHANA, BURKINO FASO, BENIN AND NIGERIA
Dear students and staff members at this university,
Assalamu alaikum warahmatullah.
I have been asked to shed some light on Islam as a peaceful religion. In view of the
shortage of time, I can only address this subject briefly.
Whenever one wishes to speak about Islam as a religion of peace, the question
naturally springs to mind that whereas there are so many religions in the world such
as Judaism, Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, etc., when it comes to finding out
whether Islam is a religion of peace, why should Islam be the odd one out?
One reason for this is that a few years after the beginning of Islam, anti-Islamic
powers began a propaganda that Islam is a religion of extremism and violence and
wants to compel others into belief by means of the sword. This, of course, is
incorrect. In the beginning, the Muslims of Makkah suffered persecution but they
remained silent. Finally, they migrated to Madinah but there too the disbelievers
hounded the Muslims and forced upon them a battle to which I will revert later. The
proof against those opponents who allege that Islam was spread by the sword is that
although the disbelievers of Makkah raised all sorts of objections, yet history stands
witness to the fact that the people of Makkah themselves never complained that the
Muslims had used the sword against the disbelievers to compel them to change their
faith.
Secondly, what has given Islam a bad name is an ugly and awful image of extremism
presented, whether knowingly or unwittingly, by some Muslim groups and.................

Islam Peaceful Religion

HEAD OF THE WORLDWIDE AHMADIYYA MUSLIM COMMUNITY DELIVERED AT THE
UNIVERSITE D’ABOMEY- C A L AVI COTONOU, BENIN, DURING HIS RECENT M O S T

This document provides biographical information about Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. It discusses how he had a keen interest in religion from a young age and received divine revelations later in life. He authored over 80 books to promote religious knowledge and understanding. The Review of Religions magazine was established in 1902 to defend Islam and discuss contemporary issues. Currently under the fifth successor, the message of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad is spreading worldwide as the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community continues its mission of preaching Islam's peaceful

It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375

Council for a Parliament of the World’s Religions elects Imam Abdul Malik Mujahid chair of board of trustees
1. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Council for a Parliament of the World’s Religions elects Imam Abdul Malik
Mujahid chair of board of trustees
CHICAGO (Oct. 29, 2009) — At its biannual meeting Oct. 18-19, the Board of Trustees
of the Council for a Parliament of the World’s Religions elected as its chair Imam Abdul
Malik Mujahid. The board met in Williams Bay, Wis.
Imam Mujahid’s term begins Jan. 1, 2010. He succeeds the Rev. Dr. William E. Lesher,
who has served as chair since 2003. Imam Mujahid is an imam in the Chicago Muslim
community and president of Sound Vision Foundation, which produces Radio Islam,
America’s only daily Muslim call-in talk show.
The Rev. Dr. Lesher said he considers Imam Mujahid “marvelously equipped” to serve as
the board’s highest elected officer.
“He brings to the chair a deep commitment to his own faith tradition,” the Rev. Dr.
Lesher said. “He is a recognized leader in that tradition. He has a understanding of how
religion is a force in American society and also in societies throughout the world.”
The organization traces its roots to the 1893 Parliament of the World’s Religions, which
took place in conjunction with the World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago. In 1993
the council organized and hosted the first modern Parliament of the World’s Religions,
also in Chicago. Subsequent Parliaments have been held in 1999 in Cape Town, South
Africa; and in 2004 in Barcelona, Spain.
“Most older things are known to fade away, but the Parliament is a phenomenon that
constantly reinvents itself,” Imam Mujahid said. “We were ahead of our ourselves in
Cape Town when we started engaging guiding institutions around the world on
sustainability,” Imam Mujahid said. “Now it’s the talk of the town.”
The organization is preparing for the fourth modern Parliament to be held Dec. 3-9 in
Melbourne, Australia. As part of the Parliament, an Indigenous assembly will convene
Indigenous participants from around the world.
“As we deal with issues of poverty and climate change, we’ll be nourishing all of our
discourse with the perspective of Indigenous people—who happen to suffer the most
from the excessive consumption that drives ruthless economic development,” Imam
Mujahid said.
2. “Little did we know, two or three years ago, that not only we would be focused on
environmental issues and climate change but that the whole world would be with the
Copenhagen Climate Change Conference,” the Rev. Dr. Lesher said.
Imam Mujahid is former chair of the Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater
Chicago, and has written extensively on religion, public policy and applied aspects of
Islamic living. Imam Mujahid has initiated a joint campaign between American Muslims
and the National Organization of Women to declare rape a war crime.
Also elected to the Board of Trustees of the Council for a Parliament of the World’s
Religions were: the Rev. Ellen Grace O'Brian, vice chair; Dr. Steven Perkins, vice chair;
Ms. Helen Spector, secretary; Mr. William Gifford, treasurer.
The Council for a Parliament of the World’s Religions is a 501(c)(3) non-profit
organization, headquartered in Chicago, whose mission is to promote understanding
among adherents of all faiths and spiritual traditions and to foster a peaceful, cohesive
society. www.parliamentofreligions.org
