Costineşti is a commune and resort in Romania located on the Black Sea coast. It consists of two villages, Costinesti and Schitu. Originally called Mangeapunar until 1840, it evolved from a small fishing village in the 1960s to a popular summer destination for young people and students. During the Communist era, a hotel and several villa complexes were built in varying styles. Since the 1989 revolution, some have been modernized and private construction has increased, especially to the north. The resort also has a small inland lake with several lodges. Off one of the northern beaches lies the shipwreck of the Greek cargo ship E Evangelia, beached there in 1968 and popular with tourists
