Why Cork in Aerospace?
There is a granulated type (Cork Composition), which is produced especially for use
in NASA rockets. This material is used for lining the engines and acts as an insulating
agent against the high temperatures that occur in this area. This is only possible
thanks to the unique characteristics of cork. Even when subjected to high
temperatures and using its insulation properties, cork can catch fire. It presents,
however, a rare resistance to flame formation.
The use of this material proves that cork is not, contrary to widely held belief, an
antiquated and obsolete raw material, but is rather in the vanguard of technology
