Spoilers are located on the top portion of wings and can be used to slow aircraft during flight and descent by disturbing the airstream and increasing drag while decreasing lift. When landing, pilots will deploy the spoilers after touch down to kill lift and make braking more efficient on the ground. Spoilers on only one wing can also induce rolling motion during flight.
