We created a movie review poster and magazine page for our film "Peter". For the poster, we took a screenshot from the film and edited it in Photoshop to brighten it. We added the title "PETER" in white text in the middle to stand out against the dark background. We included information about the film such as time and credits at the bottom. For the magazine page, we used a large black font for the title and added a quote in red to match magazine conventions. We included two paragraphs with details about the film and a screenshot from the movie as the main image without further editing.
The document summarizes the equipment used to film scenes for a short film, including:
A Canon 700D DSLR camera was used for its 18 megapixel resolution and ability to capture clear photos and video. The camera was mounted on a tripod to allow for smooth panning and tracking of actors.
Audio was recorded using a Zoom H4N handheld recorder and boom microphone. The boom microphone provided high quality audio by positioning it above actors' heads. It was brought closer during important scenes like voiceovers. Managing the boom microphone to be out of frame while capturing clear audio was a challenge.
The document discusses a questionnaire given to classmates and older people about their film preferences. It asked about favorite genres, plot lines, films, actors, and where they watch movies. Most respondents preferred thriller genres and unraveling plot lines. They enjoyed films with plot twists and liked watching movies online and in cinemas. This information will help the authors decide what type of film to create for their target audience of 17-19 year olds.
Foley is the art of recreating realistic sounds in film. Foley artists recreate everyday sounds like footsteps or gunshots that were not captured well during filming. This allows them to enhance audio quality and add missing sounds during post-production. Some methods include using shoes on a floor to mimic footsteps or speeding up recordings of grapes to sound like gunshots. Foley is useful for improving low quality audio, creating sounds from unexpected objects, and reusing recorded effects between projects. The technique originated from live radio broadcasts and got its name from Jack Donovan Foley, who synchronized off-screen sound effects for a 1914 film.
High camera angles make characters appear vulnerable while low angles make them seem powerful. Close-ups emphasize emotion and intimacy. Extreme close-ups reveal thoughts and intentions. Medium shots show body language. Over-the-shoulder shots provide point-of-view and establish relationships. Long shots set the scene and build tension. Point-of-view shots make the audience feel like they see through the character's eyes. Hand-held cameras engage the audience. Zooming and panning draw attention while tracking follows movement.

The document discusses changing the plot of a short film to incorporate elements of psychological horror and teen drama genres. It was decided to focus on teenagers and young adults as the target audience. Research was conducted on popular teen drama movies like Juno and Thirteen that deal with themes of teen pregnancy, drug use, and family issues. These films provided inspiration for creating a more realistic story centered around a teenager dealing with dissociative identity disorder.
The document discusses codes and conventions used in teen drama films. It focuses on elements like stereotypical cliques found in movies like Mean Girls and Twilight, exaggerated characters that deal with common teenage issues, and settings like high school hallways and locker rooms. Lighting, costumes, and props are also explored to portray different moods and distinguish characters. The goal is to incorporate these techniques from the teen drama genre into a psychological thriller to make it more relatable to teenagers.
The document provides details on the characters, lighting, and settings for a story about a teenager named Peter who has dissociative identity disorder. The main character Peter has short black hair and casual clothing. An old friend named Old Acquaintance is also featured. The lighting is planned to have a cold, isolated feel using blue-tinged spotlights and natural lighting for outdoor scenes. Key settings include an old library with windows where Peter struggles with his disorder, and a small vintage coffee shop where he talks to someone on the phone.
The script is a first draft. It likely contains placeholder text and needs further refinement before being finalized. Key details such as character names, locations, plot points, and dialogue may change as the writer edits and improves the draft into a completed work.
Storyboards are a visual planning tool used in film and video production. They consist of a series of illustrations or images displayed in sequence to demonstrate the key elements of a film or video narrative. Storyboards can help filmmakers plan camera angles, lighting, composition, scene layout, action, and dialogue before filming to ensure their vision is effectively translated to the screen.
The document asks questions to determine a person's preferences for thriller movies, including their gender, favorite thriller subgenre, what they like about thrillers, and how important visual elements like makeup and costumes are compared to the plot. It inquires about physiological, horror, spy, crime, and romance thrillers as well as what draws them to the genre overall, such as actors, storyline, or plot twists.
The document discusses codes, conventions, and techniques used in psychological thriller films. It focuses on how lighting, suspense, props like mirrors and knives, editing, and settings like woods are employed to create tension and unease. Specifically, it analyzes scenes from films like Psycho, Seven, and Until Dawn to show how low lighting, suspenseful dialogues, sound design, and editing pace manipulate audience emotions. Woods and isolated settings commonly symbolize fear, loneliness, and confusion in the genre.
Dissociative identity disorder (DID), also known as multiple personality disorder, is a condition where a person experiences distinct personalities or identities that control their behavior at different times. People with DID may experience memory loss and not remember the transitions between personalities. Symptoms include having multiple identities with different names, histories, and behaviors that emerge in stressful situations. Treatment focuses on long-term psychotherapy to help integrate the personalities and manage associated depression, anxiety, and self-harm.
