A sentence consists of smaller constituents like a noun phrase and verb phrase, with the noun as the head of the noun phrase and the verb as the head of the verb phrase. Constituents can be words, phrases, clauses, or entire sentences, and sentences are made up of various nested constituents that cannot stand alone without the other constituents.
