This document discusses how people make economic decisions and the factors that influence those decisions. It explains that individuals aim to maximize utility or satisfaction when making choices, taking into account budget constraints and opportunity costs. It also outlines the three main types of economic systems - centrally planned, market, and mixed - and how understanding concepts like scarcity, supply and demand, and margins affect decision-making.
This document discusses strategies for dealing with authorities in community practice, including submission of petitions, persuasion, negotiation, lobbying, advocacy, and confrontational strategies. Petitions involve collecting signatures to demonstrate support for an issue to decision-makers. Persuasion is used if no response is received after petitioning. Negotiation establishes communication between groups. Lobbying involves persuading those with decision-making power to take a supported course of action. Advocacy involves speaking on behalf of clients. Confrontational strategies occur when those favoring the status quo fight those favoring change. The overall goal is to create positive change for the community.

This chapter introduces the topic of nonprofit advocacy and civic engagement. It discusses how nonprofits are uniquely positioned to advocate for policy changes due to their trusted relationships in communities. Advocacy is broader than lobbying and includes activities that support an issue without direct contact with legislators. Lobbying refers specifically to attempts to influence legislation. While advocacy and limited lobbying are permitted, nonprofits cannot endorse or oppose political candidates. The chapter urges nonprofits to recognize their role in addressing social challenges through policy advocacy and provides lessons on effective advocacy, including the importance of strategy, and primary tools of organizing, lobbying, and media advocacy.
The document compares two versions of Little Red Riding Hood: the original Grimm Brothers version from 1857 and Roald Dahl's contemporary retelling from 1982. While Dahl's version relies on familiarity with the original, both aim to shape the meaning of the fairy tale for children. The summaries explore similarities and differences between the versions in terms of form, purpose, and language used, and how these impact the intended audience. The Grimm version follows a traditional narrative structure, while Dahl makes alterations but retains familiar elements, showing how retellings can update classics for new audiences.

Here is a draft analysis of the film The Golden Girls:
The Golden Girls was a groundbreaking sitcom that aired from 1985 to 1992. Set in Miami, Florida, the show followed the lives of four older women - Dorothy, Rose, Blanche, and Sophia - who shared a house together after being left alone in life. While comedies featuring older female protagonists were rare at the time, The Golden Girls tackled issues relevant to aging with humor, heart, and sophistication.
The show was praised for its portrayal of strong, independent women in their golden years. Dorothy was a divorced substitute teacher, Rose was a shy yet kind widow, Blanche was a man-hungry Southern belle, and Sophia was

cancer. The vaccine is recommended for preteens and teens to be given in 2 or 3 doses depending on
age at initiation. While the vaccine is controversial due to discussions around sexuality, it has been
shown to be very effective at preventing HPV infections and precancerous lesions. Overall the HPV
vaccine provides significant health benefits by reducing cancer risks later in life.

MIX OF STRATEGIES USED FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF PUBLIC POLICYgovernment ownership partial ownership (government corporations or government backed corporations or state-owned enterprises) public- private partnership (P3s) is a contractual arrangement between a public agency (federal, state or local) and a private sector entity – which the government has been using a great deal more in the several administrations contracting out - These types of activities include contracting out with for-profit vendors, non-profit organizations, and local government agencies from other jurisdictions to continue the delivery of public goods and servicesprocurement – secures purchasestax incentives regulations

The passage discusses the debate around allowing drone use in national parks. While drones provide new ways to view and share national park landscapes, their use also poses risks of disturbing wildlife and other visitors. Current national park rules generally ban drone use, but some argue they could be used to educate people about parks and attract donors if regulations were put in place. The passage outlines pros and cons of drone use and some high-profile cases of people being charged for violating bans.

Read and reply to the postings made by your classmates. I have included four postings. Can you respond to each one? Each one has to be more than 100 words with one reference each. I need it by tonight. Thanks in advance.
1. The social bonding, social learning, control, strain and differential association theories are the tenants that make up the life course theory. Pulling from each of these theories assisted criminologists in being able to piece together more effectively the warning signs in someone's behavior that could possibly lead them down the wrong path. Early detection of warning signs would greatly increase the effectiveness of interventions during vital stages of an individual's life. This integrated approach to the life course theories has contributed to the field of criminology by bringing all the approaches together in order for one to view the causation of crime from all the different angles which leads to a more effective outcome or prevention approach.
2. In an effort to better explain childhood and juvenile crime many life course theories were created. Integrated theory is an "explanation of crime that attempts to merge the insights from two or more theories". (Lilly,2015) This method was a common way to explain behaviors and actions of youth involved in criminal activity. Common theories used in integration were the strain theory, control theory, social bond theory, and the association or social learning theory. Although there are positive aspects to each theory they can only explain a portion of the whole picture. The pitfalls of integration are the risk that it will not create many competing ideas, as well integrating can cause "sloppy theorizing" in which many ideas look good but do not fit well together. Proper integration of theories will allow for a more accurate explanation of crime and will allow for growth and change with time.
3. My humble opinion is I think society and politics are more concerned with programs that will produce monetary results rather than results that will benefit society in the long run. People complain about having their tax dollars used to pay for the care of prisoners, but to develop the programs that will benefit society takes time, trial and error, dedication, and individuals who care about mankind and not their salary. Putting the offenders in jail and forgetting about them is easier (then they complain). The goal of early intervention is to decrease the risk factors for the onset of offending and to increase the protective factors that foster resilience in the face of these criminogenic risks (Lilly, Cullen, Ball 2015). Attracting people to the social services career field is a challenge because the salary isn’t impressive and sometimes the locations where social services are needed the most are places one wouldn’t normally visit as well.
4. I think most Americans associate incarceration with punishment rather than reform, so to use resources as an early intervention progra ...
The document discusses college dropout rates in Utah and potential reasons for high rates. It proposes solutions like making the first two years of college free to all students and increasing awareness of how education impacts future success. This could motivate students to work harder and lower dropout rates by reducing financial stress and increasing optimism in school. However, there is a risk it could reduce motivation for some students.
The document discusses collective bargaining in India and its importance. It provides definitions of collective bargaining from various sources and outlines the key stages in the collective bargaining process. Collective bargaining is important for employees, employers, and society as it promotes industrial peace, prevents disputes, and balances the interests of workers and management. Bargaining can occur at different levels - national, sectoral, and company/enterprise levels. Labour laws in India related to collective bargaining are also enacted and enforced at central and state levels.
Campaign to elect the progressive presidentpjkelly
The document provides information about campaigning for a progressive president during the period of industrialization and reform in the early 20th century. It outlines different types of campaign ads used during this era, including bandwagon, cardstacking, contrast, glittering generalities, mudslinging, plain folks, testimonial, and transfer. The document also discusses three progressive presidents - Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft, and Woodrow Wilson - and their policies, and provides directions for students to create campaign ads and other materials to elect one of these presidents.
The Pianist documents the life of Polish Jews during German occupation. The film shows how their lives changed as they faced new restrictions and rising prices. It profiles Wladyslaw Szpilman's family, who were forced to sell their piano and often went hungry in the Warsaw ghetto.

It proposes solutions like making the first two years of college free to all students and increasing awareness of how education impacts future success. Editor's Notes
Collective Bargaining is the agreement reached between an organization representing labour and the company outlining the terms of employment. It covers the initial contract between a group of employees and company leaders as well as information relating to renegotiation after the initial period has passed.
The act made it illegal for companies to spy on, harass, or retaliate against employees who attempted to organize for collective bargaining. Companies could not refuse to bargain with the representative appointed by union members nor can unions require employees to join on condition of employment.
