objectives
 Pretest to measure prior knowledge before training, which review knowledge of
organizations ethics, background knowledge of HIPAA basics, and awareness concerning
consequences of confidentiality violations.
 Overview of companies Mission Statement.
 Discussion on Ethics on the job.
 Go over main important facts about HIPAA.
 Violations and penalties overview.
 Review material in presented.
 Post test to measure new knowledge and to compare and contrast overall results.
Pretest Administered
 A twenty question multiple-choice/ short answer test that
will be given out before the training begins.
 The arrangement of the questions on the test, will be the
order in which the discussion will go.
 It does not matter if some of the employees do not know
the answer to all the questions on the test, at the end of the
training everybody should be able to pass post test.
Mission Statement
 One staff member will be asked to read out loud the
Mission Statement.
 The statement will be broken down to fully
understand how the Hospital wants its reputation to
be.
 Words, phrases, and any other misunderstood terms
will be defined.
Ethics
 Define and talk about good ethics on and off the clock.
 Perform role playing scenarios of different times where
a person has to use good ethics, and when they violate
the company's ethics.
 Good over how staff members at the hospital should
conduct their selves at all times.
HIPAA
 Define and discuss important information about
HIPAA.
 Spend extra time elaborating on major points about
HIPAA, and how detrimental it is to remain the
confidentially and security of the patients private
information.
 Elaborate on HIPAA Privacy Rule.
 Define and give examples of terms associated with the
act such as covered entity, personal-identifiable health
information, etc.
Violations and Penalties
 Discuss consequences that employees will occur if they
are caught violating the privacy of patients.
 Discuss different types of violations that could happen.
 Suspension.
 Termination.
 Fined.
 Possible prison time.

Post Test
 Distribute same test as pre-test to compare scores to
see how well or worst the employees did. If the
employees gave their undivided attention during the
training all of the scores should be improved. Everyone
who were present during the training will have a vast
amount of knowledge on what the organization
expects out of their behavior daily, how to make
ethically correct decisions, what HIPAA is and how to
incorporate their policies into their work
performances, and they will be aware of any penalties
that they will face if they violate patients privacy.
