This paper described the results of a nonlinear static mode within ANSYS of elastic and elastic-plastic
behaviour of thin petroleum pipe that is subjected to an internal pressure and therefore a linear stress analysis
performed using ANSYS 9.0 finite element software Such an analysis is important because the shape of most
structures under internal pressure is cylindrical[1].
In this paper is considered only. Elastic and elastic-plastic finite element analysis is used to predict the principle
stresses, effective stress results are compared with those obtained from theatrical equations in order to predict
the limit and failure loads for this type of loading also the relationships between redial, hoop stresses and
displacement has been used to develop a through understanding. The analysis was completed using ANAYS
Version 9.0. (a finite element program for Microsoft Windows NT). The program allows pre-processing,
analysis and post-processing stages to be completed within a single application. The program can be used to
model a large number of situations including buckling, plastic deformation, forming and stress analysis

Abstract One of the main goals of the memory management is to allow multiprogramming. Several strategies are used to allocate a memory to the process needed. These strategies require the entire process should be in the memory before execution and some of these strategies suffer from fragmentation. Virtual memory does not require entire process to be in memory before execution. It loads only those pages of the process in to the memory that are needed for execution. This can be achieved using paging scheme having number of frames in the memory to accommodate for each pages. Whenever one of the page in the memory need to be replaced, one of the page replacement algorithms are used. The performance of these page replacement algorithms depends on the total number of page faults achieved. In this paper, a new algorithm called Comparison Counting FIFO (CC-FIFO) and Distribution Counting FIFO (DC-FIFO) has been proposed using input enhancement technique. Our results and calculations show that the proposed algorithm minimizes the page fault rate compared to FIFO, LRU and Optimal page replacement algorithms. Strength behaviour of foundry sand on modified high strength concrete
Abstract Metal foundries use a large amount of sand as part of the metal casting process. Foundry industries generally recycle and reuse the used foundry sand many times in casting process. When the sand can no longer be reused in the foundry, it is removed from the foundry and is termed as "foundry waste sand." Like many waste products, foundry sand has beneficial applications to other industries. A mixture of silica sand coated with a thin film of burnt carbon and residual binder with traces of dust is termed as foundry sand. From the previous available literature it was found that replacement of sand by foundry sand by certain initial percentages gives a marginal increase in hardened properties of normal strength concrete. In the present work, fine aggregate is replaced by foundry sand with percentages and tests were performed for hardened properties of modified high strength concrete for all replacement levels. Abstract Concrete is most widely used material in construction industries and day by day the usage of fine aggregate in concrete has become challenge due to environmental problems. In this paper an attempt is made to reveal the facts and figure to utilize the quarry waste materials in concrete replacing fine aggregates. The quarry waste has very similar physical and chemical properties as river sand and they can be good substitute to natural river sand as fine aggregates. The quantity of waste produced is also very large to suffice the need of the construction industry for its potential use in concrete. The literature review reveals that quarry waste alone is used for its potential use in concrete. In this study detailed review is carried out for various doses for maximum strength and economy is carried out in various sections. After critical review it was found that there is very little work on durability aspects of concrete prepared by quarry waste in combination with other wastes.

An overview of stack design for a thermoacoustic refrigerator
Abstract A thermoacoustic refrigerator utilizes the thermal interactions of the sound waves with the medium while they travel to produce refrigeration. Sound energy propagates in longitudinal fashion through the medium, thus resulting in compressions and rarefactions in the medium and hence heating and cooling the medium subsequently. The stack acts as a medium to transfer the heat from one point in the system to another. The stack is thus the heart of any thermoacoustic refrigeration system. This paper provides a brief overview of the construction and working of the thermoacoustic refrigerator and focusses on the stack of a thermoacoustic refrigeration system. The desired thermal properties of the stack material like the thermal conductivity and specific heat have been discussed. An optimum spacing obtained from previous works based on the thermal and viscous penetration depths has been briefly discussed. Various stack geometries like the parallel plate type, the spiral type, pin type and porous stacks made of reticulated vitreous carbon have been elaborated. Abstract The use of bitumen in road construction has increased many-fold throughout the world due to its compatibility, the ease in road construction and above all the advantage of allowing traffic immediately after construction. The most common binder used for road surfacing is bitumen obtained from petroleum However; Petroleum is nowadays becoming scarce due to depletion of its source. Even though bitumen is widely used in road construction, there are some drawbacks in bituminous mix like high susceptibility to temperature variation, tendency to crack, lesser effective service life etc. Therefore, bituminous pavements fail to give the expected service life under adverse climatic, environmental and traffic condition. In an attempt to enhance the service life of bituminous surfacing under adverse prevailing conditions, research is going on throughout the world in the area of additives in search of improved, durable and cost effective bituminous binders. The main objective of this study is to evaluate the properties of bituminous mixes that can be made by use of different grading of bitumen like VG10 VG30 VG40 and different grading of aggregate with using of code references. This study examines the heat transfer properties of submicro-encapsulated phase change material (PCM) plates for potential use in food packaging applications. Rubitherm RT5 PCM was encapsulated in polycaprolactone shells using electrospinning. Plates with 30% and 38% PCM mass fractions were tested experimentally and modeled numerically using an enthalpy method. Experimental differential scanning calorimetry showed the 38% plate had a higher phase change enthalpy. Numerical modeling validated by experiments demonstrated the encapsulated PCM plates provide better thermal buffering than standard cardboard packaging.

Abstract Hydrodynamic analysis of elevated water tank is a complex procedure involving fluid structure interaction. The elevated tank supports large water mass at the top of slender staging. In case of elevated tank the resistance against lateral forces exerted by earthquake is largely dependent of supporting system. Staging is considered to be a critical element as far as lateral resistance is concern. Satisfactory performance of staging during strong ground shaking is crucial. In this paper seismic behavior of elevated water tank in view point of their supporting system is evaluated using finite element software ETABS. The main objective is to evaluate a performance of different staging system for elevated water tank using finite element software ETABS. The spring mass model consisting of impulsive and convective masses as per IS 1893:2002 Part 2 has been used for the analysis. Most of the non destructive testing techniques are surely cost effective but time consuming this makes the overall stay time, production time and overall cost indulged in process high. By applying ultrasonic phased array technique the maintenance scheduling and incurred cost of maintenance and also the overall operational cost can be reduced remarkably. Stress and fatigue analysis of landing gear axle of a trainer aircraft
Abstract The undercarriage or landing gear of an aircraft is the structure that supports an aircraft on the ground and allows it to taxi, takeoff and land. Among the various parts of landing gear, axle is the most critical component where the loads (landing and ground loads) act on the axle first, then transferred to the structure. In this study stress and fatigue analysis of the axle is performed to meet the strength and life requirements. The modeling of the axle is done using UniGraphics (UG) software. Stress analysis is carried out using MSC Patran (pre-processing and post-processing)/Nastran (solver) for different landing loads (spin up, spring back, maximum vertical and drift) and ground handling loads (braking, taxing and turning). Stress analysis was carried out by both classical and FEM approaches and by comparing the results it was obvious that they were in correlation with one another. Fatigue analysis was also carried out for the axle using landing spectrum and ground handling spectrum to estimate the fatigue life. Abstract Now a days due to many civil engineering constructions through out the globe the usage of natural sand is very large and so it is slowly becoming scarce. Because of this main reason in the present days the usage of Robo sand or Crushed or artificial sand has gained momentum. This paper presents a brief study on the flexural behaviour of fibre reinforced ferrocement elements made with artificial sand(Robo sand).Nearly 30 mortar cubes and 180 flexural specimens were cast and tested with the variables such as different percentages of steel fibre, number of wire mesh layers and different span to depth ratios (a/d) etc,. From the results it is observed that with the increase in percentage of fibres the compressive strength of mortar, first crack load, ultimate load in flexure, flexural stress at first crack load, flexural stress at ultimate load and energy absorption increase up to certain extent and afterwards get decreased. Also the above strength parameters are found to increase with number of wire mesh layers. More so the above strengths are found to decrease with the increase in a/d ratio except the flexural stresses at first crack load and ultimate load. Besides the paper presents the behaviour of load – deflection variation and crack pattern for number of variables studied. Further a comparative study of the behaviour of robo sand specimens with those of the natural sand has been studied. Finally an analytical model has been proposed for Mcr and Mu with the inclusion of the most of the variables used in the present investigation.
