            These VCS students
             donated their time to
             work with the City of
             Caldwell to mark
             storm drains that
             lead directly to the
             Boise River. Students
             spent 2.5 hours on
             Saturday, April 14th.
             This was the first
             group of students to
             participate and they
             were recognized by
             the City of Caldwell
             for their efforts.
Robotics
  
      In celebration of the joint
            focus of Arts and
             Science at VCS,
          the Robotics team
         assembled a robot to
        play the part of Toto in
            the Drama Club’s
           production of “The
             Wizard of Oz”.
In 2012, VCS's Robotics Club traveled to U of I to participate in the First
Tech Challenge! The team uses mathematical thinking and principles of
 engineering to design, build, and program a robot to perform specific
   tasks. The team was named as a finalist for the "Motivate" award.
The Arts
             

              Munchkins, bringing
               our secondary and
              elementary students
              together creatively.

are popular at the Secondary level

   
 2nd graders study bugs and perform
 experiments with worms, 6th graders mummify
 chickens, and high school students learn about
 flash points. Science in K through 12th at VCS
 is integrated, hands-on, relevant and engaging.

Editor's Notes

  1. Chairman Reed and commissioners, thank you for giving us the opportunity to share the successes that Vision Charter School students have experienced over the past year .
  2. In our sixth year of operation, we have 551 K-12thstudents with 541 students on the wait list.We continue our focus of being a K-12 College Prep Science and Art school. We are pleased with our students’ consistently excellent performance even with the doubling of classrooms and increase in student numbers.
  3. Vision Charter School is committed to employing distinguished staff who are committed to the goal of helping every child achieve their full potential.VCS offers an enriched and accelerated program to all students based on the Gifted and Talented research. VCS staff provide after school tutoring to students every day of the week. In addition students offer support during advisory and lunch hour.Qualifying students receive support through Special Ed, Title 1, summer school, 504 accommodations, speech, and occupational therapy.
  4. Vision Charter School Board, Business Manager, and Administration continue to focus on being fiscally conservative and responsible. Working closely with the staff over the past six years, we have been able to reach the goal of funding phase 1 of our permanent building set to open in fall of 2013!
  5. We are on schedule and on budget for our building to be completed by June of 2013.
  6. We will be able to double K-4th grade adding 132 new students. We will continue to have doubled 5th-9th grade classes .We anticipate approximately 45 10th graders and a single 11th and 12th grade classes. Elementary will continue to reside in ten portables owned by VCS until phase two is completed.
  7. “gymacafetorium” = full gym/music room/stage, cafeteria, warming kitchen, library/media room, tech room, two science labs, and classrooms. Vision hopes to add phase two in three years. Phase two will house the elementary classrooms and the administration rooms.
  8. Community service activities this year have included:Canned Food Drive, Christmas Gifts for needy families, Guatemalen schools, clothes drive, Breast Cancer Awareness, School supplies for needy families, Breast Cancer Benefit Concert, to name just a few…..

Drama, Musical Theatre, Choir, Orchestra, Band, Guitar, Symphony, Song Writing, Audio Visual Technology, Art Appreciation, Drawing and Painting, Ceramics and Pottery, AP Art, Bell Choir, and General music,The elementary students learn music theory, dance, drama, and performance skills starting in kindergarten. Kindergarten through fifth grade students receive musical keyboarding lessons. Fourth grade students begin learning the recorder.
