This document discusses the importance of constant readiness for both military members and Christians. 2. The life of a military member is filled
with things that are, to them, routine things.
Things such as wearing the uniform,
frequent deployments, family separations,
less than desirable dining facilities at times,
etc. The list could certainly be greatly
extended. One of the things that is on the
minds of most. is the constant necessity for
preparation for combat. While this topic is
not always pleasant, it is, nonetheless,
necessary.
Even though one may find himself,
under “normal circumstances” doing a job
that would preclude him from combat,
history has repeatedly proven that
circumstances quickly change. Especially is
this true in the days in which we are
presently living. A matter of only a few
hours can change one’s duty assignment
from the enjoyable settings of a place like
Hawaii to the deserts of the Middle East.

3. Since this is true, the military member
must vigilantly prepare so as to not find
himself, all of a sudden, in a combat role
without the proper preparation.
Please consider with me another
situation where the very same philosophy
MUST PREVAIL. The Christian believer
should, likewise, be diligent in maintaining a
state of constant readiness. The world is not a
friend to grace. Forces of evil are busy 24/7
trying to gain new strongholds.
Many passages in the Bible speak to the
topic of combating opposing forces, such as:
-- “The devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about,
seeking whom he may devour…” I Peter 5:8
-- “Put on the whole armor of God, that ye
may be able to withstand the wiles of the
devil.” Eph. 6:11

4. Stand, therefore, with your feet shod with
the preparation of the gospel of peace…”
Ephesians 6:15
-- “…Earnestly contend for the faith which
was once delivered to saints.”
Jude 3
If there were no warfare to wage, then
these types of admonitions would be
meaningless and unnecessary. When Jesus said,
“go ye into all the world and preach the gospel
to every creature” (John 16:15), it was with full
understanding that He was sending his own into
a hostile situation that would require several
things, such as:
-- Devotion to duty
-- Knowledge of the enemy
-- Dependence on the weaponry
-- Loyalty to Commander
-- Assurance of victory

5. The combat ready soldier MUST, to be
successful, have 100% assurance that these
things, in addition to many others, are
never in doubt. If he ever doubts, there
are, consequentially, then many very real
reasons why he would hesitate to go into a
battleground situation – provided that he
had an option.
Readiness is essential in so many
areas of life. It surely is sensible to expect
readiness in the lives of those whose
responsibilities include keeping each of us
free in these troublesome times. It should
also seem logical that readiness should be
the norm when it comes to spiritual battles
as well.
To conclude then, check on the
certainty of the following as you accept
the probability of doing battle in the
spiritual realm:

 Make certain that your gear is in
good working order
 Accept the absolute confidence in
your Commander’s skills
 Make certain that you are skilled at
using the proper weapons as you
do battle
 Understand that the battles should
be conducted offensively
