COLOR EYEQ
Moving the industry forward with one of a kind solutions
Industry Challenges
The challenges we have overcome
• Going from a sample or measurement to a
formula
– Providing the exact color desired by the customer
– “Closest color doesn’t cut it”
- Small fan decks (~ 2000 colors)
- 16 million human discernable colors
• Commonly used technology
– Dated (1940)
– Complex (spectral curves + trial & error)
– Expensive ($7K + $1K/yr)
– Bulky, large, and non portable
– A measurement, however accurate, is not a formula
Synthesis is inherently trial-and-error!
The Color EyeQ Solution
The only portable & affordable internet based system
for highly accurate color matching and formulation
• Portable, hand-held reader
 Accurate, consistent, rugged
 Spans the full color space
 No field calibration
 With security & personalization
• Web-based software solution
 Anytime, anywhere
 Sheen correction
 Consistent, easy updates at one server
 Easy integration with other applications
 Data collection and analytics
• Based on deep knowledge of color space,
mathematics, computer science, & robotics

Color EyeQ Service Plans
Meeting the needs of various market segments
Three Plans
Manufacturer centric plan
Retailer centric plan
Contractor/Designer centric plan
All these can be customized as needed
The Manufacturer Centric Plan
Use of Color EyeQ specified by the manufacturer
• Manufacturer establishes contract with Color EyeQ for a set of devices and
subscriptions and pays for them as a bulk
• System usage with that manufacturer’s paint lines only
• Devices can be optionally tethered to one or more stores or left totally
open for all stores selling the paint lines
• Typical retail setup
– 2 devices per store (of which 1 is a backup)
– Optional units for field use (with subscription)
The Retailer Centric Plan
Types of usage determined by the retailer
• Device ID helps to tie device to a specific retailer. (Can’t use one store’s
device for buying paint from another!)
• When paid by the retailer, the devices may support more than one paint
line qualified by Color EyeQ.
• When paid by a specific manufacturer, we can restrict to that
manufacturer’s paint line only.
• Typical set up:
– Retailer buys 2 devices with 1 as back up only; both for store use only
– Both devices above supported by a single subscription
– Buys additional devices and subscriptions at a discount for lending out
to contractors and customers
Contractor Group Centric Plan
Helps contractor/designer to bring the store to the customer premise
• Contractor group (or manufacturer) establishes contract with
Color EyeQ for a set of devices and subscriptions and pays for
them as a bulk
• System can be used to buy paint of any manufacturer
qualified by Color EyeQ systems OR restricted to certain paint
lines as needed
• Devices can be optionally tethered to one or more stores
depending on group’s relationship, provided the stores are
subscribers of Color EyeQ
• Typical set up: 1 device per individual contractor - with device
assigned to specific contractor for tech support, etc.

Color EyeQ’s Attractive Cost Profile
The advantages of portability, accuracy, speed, customer satisfaction, etc. all come
at a low cost that can be passed on easily to the end customer
• Costs retailer pennies per gallon of paint
– Our conservative assumptions: 20 gallons of sales per day at $30
per gallon costing $0.10 per gallon
– Alternately, one custom tint/week more than pays for the
system
– Specific numbers should be even more favorable due to volume
and gallon cost
• Costs contractor about 1% per job
– 50 weeks/year; 65% utilization; 5 days per job
– 39 jobs per year
– Costs $15/job ; at even $1500/job, this adds about 1% per job
Next Steps
Next Steps

to their needs with a roll out schedule
2. Color EyeQ prepares a detailed proposal
3. Color EyeQ sets up a prototype of the production
system
