WHAT IS THE TURTLE RESCUE OF THE HAMPTONS?
Turtle Rescue of the Hamptons, founded by Karen Testa, is a non-profit organization. Testa
opened the doors on May 1, 2012 in Jamesport, New York. They are on-call 24 hours a day,
7 days a week. Their mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and release wild species native to
Long Island. They allow injured animals to live out their lives with dignity and respect.
Turtle Rescue of the Hamptons, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that is
passionately dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of sick and injured turtles
that are native to New York. Their work is funded solely by charitable contributions.
WHAT ARE THE GOALS?
- Gain more consistent donors.
- Be able to purchase more outlets/tubs.
- Educate further than the North Fork.
- More community involvement.
- Be able to purchase a new place.
- Overall goal of $1,000.
SWOT ANALYSIS
Strengths: Great media presence, excellent google reviews, strong social media
following, hard-working.
Weakness: Small Space, reliant on charitable donations, uneducated community
members.
Opportunities: Fundraising on campus, family friendly fundraising to encourage
local community support.
Threats: Unwillingness to donate, other non-profits, seasonal

- Environmentalists (of all ages)
- Local Community Groups
- College students who support wildlife conservation
- High School Clubs (Interact Club, Environmental Club)
- Larger businesses in the Long Island Area. (McCarthy Real Estate, etc.)
HITS COVERAGE ACHIEVED
● Venmo Board raised $150 with Pi Phi Delta Sorority
● PSA played on Vinyl Vibes radio show
● Karen named “Hometown Hero” on the local news
● “Faces of Long Island”- Newsday
RECOMMENDED STRATEGIES AND TACTICS
- Asking local businesses to sponsor and promote the rescue to their customers
- Collaborate with Riverhead Long Island Aquarium:
- Educational Turtle show
- Feeding turtles included
- Sell merch and turtle stuffed animals where 100% of proceeds go to rescue
- 50% of ticket proceeds go to rescue

GOAL WITH THE DONATIONS
Turtle Manor is Turtle Rescue of the Hampton’s 1920’s Farmhouse was gifted by a local
businessman
With the donations we have achieved Turtle Rescue of the Hamptons will be able to keep Turtle
Manor running and expand their facilities
Funds will go towards upkeep costs for the rescues equipment, incubators, and habitat
Rehabilitation and Physical therapy will also be offered for turtles who need help
Turtle Rescue of the Hamptons will never turn away an injured turtle, having outreach is as
valuable as donations because now more turtles will be able to get rescued from the increased
awareness
