João Mesquita presented on using FreeSWITCH to replace an aging Nortel PBX for the Federal Secretary of Education in South America. The environment posed challenges with outdated infrastructure, buildings, and expensive phones as well as lack of IT resources and cultural resistance to change. However, by using FreeSWITCH with FXS modules provided by Khomp, they were able to successfully replace the PBX despite the difficulties.
