people are trafficked in

IS
WORKING
TO STOP
THIS
Circus Kathmandu (CK) is the only
social enterprise using circus arts to
educate high-risk communities across
Nepal about the threats and tactics of
human trafficking, stopping countless
children from being sold into slavery.
4. Some as young as five.

S L A V E C I R C U S E S
Rescued from captivity, these young performers
take the art-form they were forced to learn through
slavery and now use it as a powerful weapon to
defeat human trafficking. Traveling to high-risk,
largely illiterate communities, their stories are told
through captivating circus performances, teaching
villagers about the tricks and tactics of those who
wish to enslave them.
THE POWER OF
PERFORMANCE
5. CK ARTISTS WERE ASHAMED OF
THEIR SKILLS UNTIL THEY BEGAN
MEETING CIRCUS PROFESSIONALS
FROM THE WEST.
HAVING ONLY PERFORMED
AS SLAVES, THEY DIDN'T
KNOW PEOPLE WITH THEIR TALENTS
COULD NOT ONLY BE
BUT
NOW THEY ARE ASKING THEIR HEROES FOR HELP
FREE
RESPECTED.
7. DONATE
EQUIPMENT
CK needs donations of
equipment being phased out
by other circuses such as
costumes, juggling gear, set
decorations, etc. Currently the
12 person troop do not even
have one set of matching tights.
CK acrobats learned their skills in
slavery and could benefit from the
mentorship of true professionals.
Performers willing to host CK team
members or visit CK's facilities in
Nepal for short term training
workshops would greatly grow the
troupe's impact.
