Mic’s religious story
Mic was born into a very religious family and attended private Catholic school for preschool through 2nd grade, where she sang religious songs and prayed daily. From 3rd through 5th grade she attended a non-religious international school but still regularly attended church. In 6th through 10th grade she returned to the international school but took optional religious studies and became more involved in church activities. She continued regularly attending church through high school and became friends with others who were deeply religious. Overall, Mic's upbringing and school experiences exposed her to religion from a young age and she remains a theist.

Dave and Sarah celebrated New Year's Eve 2010 at Brian and Kavita's new home in Chicago. In January, Sarah broke her ankle requiring surgery with a plate and screws, and received help from friends and family during her recovery. In March, they celebrated their engagement with a party introducing their families. Sarah also started a new job and they moved to Bloomington. They had their wedding in May and honeymooned in Florida. The rest of the year included family celebrations, helping friends with their wedding in Ireland, starting new jobs, and spending time with friends and family for the holidays.

He homesteaded in Nebraska and married an American woman. Their families came to America to escape tyranny in their home countries.

My family has two important rituals during Eid Mubarak celebrations. First, we do sungkeman, where family members lay their heads in the laps of elders to apologize and ask for blessings. This symbolic gesture of forgiveness and togetherness brings us to tears. Secondly, older family members give money to younger ones as a sign of gratitude. Both rituals reinforce our family bonds and hold deep spiritual meaning for us by allowing reflection and generosity between generations.
