We all generally know what the causes are, but we are not here to discuss that or assign blame. In the later years of a child's life they can have major health dangers or even have their life threatened if they are obese or overweight now. Suffering physically and even psychologically is what a noticeable percentage of an entire generation experience. It is hard enough to be a teen without having to endure being bullied about weight by others as well. In this day there are some things obese children have to face and we are going to look closer at these.|In terms of health-related problems, time is an important factor. This means that sometimes it can take a long time for the more serious symptoms to start showing up. Still, the stage definitely gets set for later on in life when a child is obese. Even so, children will tend to have fewer medical problems due to obesity because they are young. Yet the condition itself is still thought as a risk factor for complications and conditions later on in life. Liver disease, heart disease, high blood pressure, certain kinds of cancer, diabetes and stroke are all serious possibilities.|There has been a steady increase in childhood obesity in the United States and it continues to baffle and confound professionals of every stripe. Of course it does not help that just about anything sold in the US that is a sweet liquid contains copious amounts of high fructose corn syrup. That, though, is an issue best left for another day. What makes childhood obesity sad is that the kids who suffer from it seem like they haven't been given a fair shot at life and that's terrible. In addition to the bullying they have to endure from their peers, the kids also suffer from a variety of physical problems ranging from back pain and arthritis to Type II diabetes. There is much more to this sad state of affairs, and we will mention just a few in this article.

Product Design Trends in 2024 | Teenage EngineeringsPixeldarts
The realm of product design is a constantly changing environment where technology and style intersect. Every year introduces fresh challenges and exciting trends that mold the future of this captivating art form. In this piece, we delve into the significant trends set to influence the look and functionality of product design in the year 2024.
How Race, Age and Gender Shape Attitudes Towards Mental HealthThinkNow
Mental health has been in the news quite a bit lately. Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying it’s good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation that’s least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state they’re comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).
AI Trends in Creative Operations 2024 by Artwork Flow.pdfmarketingartwork
Creative operations teams expect increased AI use in 2024. Currently, over half of tasks are not AI-enabled, but this is expected to decrease in the coming year. Creatives primarily want to use AI to save time on mundane tasks and boost productivity.
Organizational culture includes values, norms, systems, symbols, language, assumptions, beliefs, and habits that influence employee behaviors and how people interpret those behaviors. It is important because culture can help or hinder a company's success. Some key aspects of Netflix's culture that help it achieve results include hiring smartly so every position has stars, focusing on attitude over just aptitude, and having a strict policy against peacocks, whiners, and jerks.

Google's Just Not That Into You: Understanding Core Updates & Search IntentLily Ray
1. Core updates from Google periodically change how its algorithms assess and rank websites and pages. This can impact rankings through shifts in user intent, site quality issues being caught up to, world events influencing queries, and overhauls to search like the E-A-T framework.
2. There are many possible user intents beyond just transactional, navigational and informational. Identifying intent shifts is important during core updates. Sites may need to optimize for new intents through different content types and sections.
3. Responding effectively to core updates requires analyzing "before and after" data to understand changes, identifying new intents or page types, and ensuring content matches appropriate intents across video, images, knowledge graphs and more.

Childhood Obesity - The Bleak and Harsh Outlook for The Future
1. the severe consequences of childhood
It wasn't all that long ago that obesity and all of its complications were limited to adulthood. Over
the last thirtyish years or so the situation in the US has changed definitely for the worse. There
are more overweight and obese adults than there have ever been before and these conditions
have been starting to affect kids and teens at younger and younger ages. For children, the
obvious and most influential people will be the parents, and education as well as awareness are
critical. Parents, however, need to provide guidance and act as positive models for the kids'
behaviors. Obese children are facing immediate threats to their mental and physical well being.
Looking beyond that, the kids are also at high risk for lots of issues that won't surface until later
on. For kids, this is an awful one-two punch that is almost impossible to beat back and get over.
This growing trend has been studied by researchers and professionals for over thirty years. Kids,
pre-teen and teens have been gaining weight steadily and the health implications of this are
crazy. A plethora of research and study has been performed in the last twenty-plus years. One
thing is certain, obesity during younger years is a serious risk factor for very serious diseases in
later years. It is very important for parents to understand that this story is actually more involved.
Clinically obese and overweight children will experience the effects of their condition long before
adulthood arrives. Press coverage is something that childhood obesity has been getting a lot of
for a long time. Even in the US where this has reached epidemic proportions, the press coverage
has made little difference.
We all generally know what the causes are, but we are not here to discuss that or assign blame.
Children can have major health risks that may be life-threatening in later years if they are officially
obese or overweight. An entire generation has a huge percentage of children that are suffering
physically and even in psychological areas. Being overweight will make peers be brutal, which
should not have to be endured as well as being a teen. Let's take a closer look at what the obese
child is facing, today. Time is an integral element to the nature of most weight-related health
conditions. This means that sometimes it can take a long time for the more serious symptoms to
start showing up. However, the stage is certainly set and processes are put into motion during the
early years when a child is obese. Still, kids typically don't suffer from as many medical issues as
obese adults do--their youth protects them somewhat. The condition still filters into problems
discovered later in life though. Some of the most severe problems are diabetes, high blood
pressure, cancer, liver disease, heart disease and stroke.|There has been a steady increase in
childhood obesity in the United States and it continues to baffle and confound professionals of
every stripe. It doesn't help that almost all solid food sold in the US contains a bunch of high
fructose corn syrup. But that can keep for another time. Obese children almost seem like they
never had a chance at life, and we feel that is a sad testimony. Kids with childhood obesity are
forced to deal with emotional abuse in the form of taunts and harsh words from their peers and
physical problems like constant joint and back pain, arthritis and sometimes even Type II
diabetes. There is much more to this sad state of affairs, and we will mention just a few in this
article.
The child who is obese is on a crushing path heading right for awful health problems. One, for
example, is fatty liver disease which is perhaps the number one type of disease that affects the
2. liver. Some years ago people typically associated liver problems with drinking too much and
sclerosis. Today, however, we know that fatty livery disease is caused by long term obesity. What
typically makes the problems with the liver worse is the fact that an obese person has really
terrible metabolism. The liver helps you by getting rid of the toxins and other substances that are
not good for the body. This puts a major demand upon the bodily systems of kids and teens who
are obese. There is a wide variety to the medical conditions that are going to be experienced by
any young child, preteen or teenager who is obese. Lots of different things, including genetics,
have influence here. Severely obese kids and teens are more prone to conditions that adversely
effect their bones and joints. Load bearing joints, in particular, are more likely to develop issues.
The skeletal stress will occur in the hips, knees, ankles and feet. Kids who deal with joint pain
usually have back pain too as well as swelling around all of their joints. Kids and teens are very
commonly diagnosed with arthritis as well. Every physical area of the human body is put under
severe stress from being obese. If a child is obese then this can have severe dangers to their
respiratory system, giving them obstructive sleep apnea. If a child is obese then they may also
have problems with normal breathing.
Because of a weight condition, a child can develop asthma. If you have a problem with your
normal breathing process, it may also be referred to as an exercise intolerance. Overweight
people often have trouble breathing, which you may have noticed. Because your body is having to
work harder, it has to breathe harder, so this is a natural response. This merely sets the stage for
increased stress on the entire cardiovascular system, as well. It doesn't matter how old a person
is, it is likely that if they are obese they will probably suffer from high blood pressure and
hypertension. There are some major medical conditions that don't get seen during childhood
obesity and others that are likely to appear. High blood pressure is one of the problems that is
often seen in kids who are severely overweight or suffer from obesity. In addition to the physical
stress placed on the body from the excess weight, there are significant psychological stress
factors involved, too. Obese kids are regularly abused both physically and verbally by their
classmates. So all of that adds up to a chronically high stress situation which also contributes to
the formation of high blood pressure. Type II diabetes is a real thread to kids, teens and adults
who suffer from obesity. Of course, it does make a certain sum of sense that it might happen. This
type of diabetes is different than Type I because Type II can often be prevented. Risk factors for
Type II diabetes include weight problems like obesity and a prolonged sedentary lifestyle. People
who are obese have more strain put on their bodies to produce insulin. There is obviously, in this
situation, a far greater amount of person who needs the hormone. Then, as time goes on, the
body starts to resist the insulin and that's when Type II occurs. Research has been conducted
everywhere that confirms that obstructive sleep apnea is a lot more widespread in children and
teens who are obese. This condition is very serious because what happens is the airway actually
becomes blocked during sleep. Obese and overweight children are more prone to snoring but that
is slightly deceiving according to those doing the research. The reason for the snoring (some of
the time anyway) is OSA or Obstructive Sleep Apnea. One possible approach to the problem is a
procedure called an adenotonsillectomy which is meant to treat the condition specifically in young
people.
Perhaps one of the oldest expressions out there is that kids are cruel. Perhaps most of us have
3. experienced that truism when we were younger. Kids who suffer from obesity are a lot more likely
to have to deal with lots of teasing and, often, being humiliated verbally. Is it any wonder, then,
how these kids can get through all of those years of school and keep their sanity intact. We all
understand that that kind of long lasting abuse can have severe consequences later on. The
constant verbal assaults will have a tremendous impact in areas such as self esteem, confidence
and the list goes on.
Mostly the risks will develop in your cardiovascular system. Severely obese children are known to
have elevated serum cholesterol as well as general fatty blood profiles involving triglycerides.
Because these heart diseases start early in life, they need to be intervened immediately. Imagine
your child having to take prescription medication to counter their high cholesterol. An adult has to
accept the side effects if they want to start taking this medication.
When taking this medication it can be complicated for a young child or a teen.
Just about any person who is obese suffers from a litany of psychological challenges. When it
feels like all of the kids around you are mean to you every day that can cause stress, low self
esteem low self confidence and even make the child hate him or herself. There are all quiet
problems that obese kids and teens typically try to handle all by themselves. When the situation
goes on long enough and gets severe enough it could cause the victim to develop behaviors that
border on or even are sociopathic. There isn't any real data to say how many obese teenagers go
on to college. We are willing to bet that the number isn't that big and that there are a lot more
obese high school students than there are obese college students. Could you really blame them
for choosing not to go when they probably imagine those years to be just as torturous as their
high school years? There are also gender specific problems in terms of obesity in young girls who
have started going through puberty. For example, obese girls and women often experience
menstrual irregularities. The issue and cause is due to the interference with normal hormones in
the female body. The overall effect is to cause any and all manner of irregularities with the
menstrual cycle. Obesity is often the main cause of these kinds of female problems. If the
interference in the hormones is big, it is even possible for women to become sterile if they are
obese. Think about it: if there is a disruption in the hormones, what kind of impact can this have
on the other female processes that are reliant upon hormones? The human body needs hormone
production to be normal and well functioning in order to keep the metabolism functioning properly.
Researchers are still not sure about a direct relationship between obesity and the early onset of
puberty, and more so in girls than boys. However, there's a particular amount of common sense
to be had in looking at what we know. For example, it is widely known that kids who are
overweight or obese grow faster and enter puberty earlier. But it is a time in which clear decisions
need to be made as to what causes what. While this is obviously not that serious a threat as the
other obesity related problems, there are definitely serious implications that accompany
abnormally young ages for the onset of puberty.|Not only that but that, when paired with the
feelings of being ostracized and bullied at school, it is a miracle if an obese child or teen doesn't
develop a major social dysfunctional disorder. It is also called "social disability" and goes hand in
hand with depression, extreme feelings of unhappiness, etc. A natural result of all of this is
4. extreme levels of stress which are well-known to be unhealthy from a psychological perspective
as well as physical. This can cause some kids who suffer from obesity to start bullying other kids.
What is obviously happening here is that the bullying behavior is an outlet for the anger that they
have been feeling building up from being picked on themselves.|For many reasons the prospects
do not seem very promising for an obese child. When an obese child becomes an adult there is a
long list of health problems and diseases that are at risk of. Can you reverse this obese
condition?
Well, studies show that obese teenagers are sixteen times more prone to developing into severely
obese adults. That obviously does not bode well for those teens. As an adult these children are
looking at a very diminished quality of life because the risk factors start to develop when they are
young. The socialization process and development of a person's individuality and personality
accelerates during the teen age years. Along with those processes are the development of the
teen's body image which is known to be critical at that stage. Obese teenagers have a really hard
time developing normally in these areas. What happens is the obese teen will leave high school at
potentially severe disadvantages. The ability to compete and succeed, in normally accepted
standards, will be almost non-existent for many.|You can probably guess that there is a serious
social stigma that gets assigned to obese kids and teenagers. They have a hard time even doing
everyday things like getting through the school day. The effects of prolonged teasing, hurtful
comments and bullying can cause psychological scars that can be damaging for a person's whole
life. Every person is going to have a different response to this. It is important to get counseling to
deal with the ripple effect that is brought on by these kinds of behaviors. The real issue of obesity
in young kids and teens is something that will affect everyone. It is important to look at this also
from the standpoint of cost to society. Obese kids typically become obese grown ups and that
comes with all sorts of medical and personal costs. This proves that obesity is really a problem for
society even though that isn't at the forefront of most peoples' awareness.
Obviously obese children are at a severe physical and social disadvantage when they have finally
reached this condition. We all already understand that losing that amount of weight is difficult and
to do it at all, you will need to have a lot of support and determination to do so. It is important for
parents and friends to offer as much support as they can. Kids and young adults are resilient and
have an easier time bouncing back once a healthy direction has been taken. But of course the
clincher is whether or not the children already suffer from any major medical conditions.
We think that it is right that obese children should have a plan of action so they can start to lose
this weight. We know that for each of these children their situations are different. This situation
has eluded being reversed so far, but it is very serious.
It is vital, if you suffer from obesity, to talk to an adult who is qualified to help you work through
your weight problem. It is important to be well informed as to the causes of this condition. The
good news is that you can do something about your condition and you are never too old to try to
get healthy. Obese kids and young adults have often been (accurately) described as "the walking
wounded." This applies because of the way that obesity affects the mind and the body.
