This document summarizes the introduction chapter of a study on developing an appropriate English material for students at Pondok Pesantren Kampus Ainul Yaqin Islamic University of Malang. The study aims to consider aspects of second language acquisition in the material's design. It discusses the background of needing high English skills in various fields and the challenge of developing English curriculum accordingly. The identified research problem is determining an appropriate English material for the students. The objective is to develop such a material focused on reading and speaking skills over 16 meetings. The significance of the study is that it intends to provide theoretical, practical, and institutional contributions as well as guidance for further researchers.
