- Everyone has different learning abilities than others. Some people learn better by pictures while others use straight memorization. But does a person’s environment affect how they learn.
- Studies show that factors such as temperature, lighting in a room, types of music one listens to, responsibility and ones persistence to accomplish a certain task can affect a persons learning styles.
- Other types of environmental factors that affect learning are relationship with parents, peer groups, and media. While you still have the natural and social surroundings. A strong healthy relationship with a parent will have a positive impact on your learning, because people with negative relationships often are depressed and don’t strive to do their work. Having friends that put you on the right path towards your education will strengthen your learning capability. For example a good friend knowing that you want to go out on a Friday night but have a class on a Saturday morning would talk you out of going instead of going out that night, coming home late and missing class the next day. Your natural surroundings is everything physically around a person.
- Throughout Buffalo’s campus there are a variety of spots for people to sit down and study. These are nice and quiet locations in the outside and most of them have nice views. But not everyone comes out to study in these out door locations. Why is that?
- Well some people like to be in the privacy of their own rooms, while others go out and study in places such as Starbuck. Just like how some people can’t work under noisy conditions while others can, it all depends on ones own personal learning style. These learning styles all affect a persons learning ability.
- Due to the way the human mind functions, many people don’t like the education system of straight memorization. We can store information in our long term memory by memorization but after a while that information becomes poorly labeled and is often difficult to recall at later times. And in the school students memorize the information they are given for a test and if you ask them the next year if they could remember what they have learned they usually forget more than half of what they memorized.
- That is why many people suggest an increase in the amount of modern art classes to be taught in High Schools and Middle schools. That is because American Schools have a high concentration of Math and Science courses. But if a student doesn’t have interest in Math and Science they would have a harder time to understand the material. So courses that interest students and involve them to be more creative are the classes we need to enhance a child's learning ability, because the true way to learn something if to fully understand what you are doing.
- Researchers say it is best to have a pleasant nurturing environment for a infant from the start. Many parents say that a young child's brain is like a sponge because it is true. Children pick up habits faster at a young age because that is when their brains are developing which creates more synapses.
- Another reason an environment affects a child so deeply is because that is where they are being raised. The more time the child spends in that environment the more it shapes the type of person they are. Nature and nurture are two key factors in a child's life.
- Well finals week is around the corner and its time to start hitting those books. During these final days of the fall semester we will see if many different studying techniques taking place. Which all incorporates with a persons learning ability. So lets see if studying in the last minute, or preparing yourself and using your time responsibly will help you get an A in the class.
