Some of my favourite quotes on change and innovation by people far cleverer than I. You can of course download the pdf version here, or go over to my blog: http://wp.me/p37qal-pH to download the *.pptx version

This document provides steps to embrace change in the workplace. It recommends taking a different approach to existing goals, doing something scary to learn what works, and not dwelling on the past but focusing on today's opportunities. It also suggests making changes slowly even if small, empowering your team by sharing your vision and encouraging them, and adapting your vision flexibly to meet changing business needs since change is a process, not an event.
I've recently posted a few presentations containing my favourite quotes on Change, training, development, motivation and success. Since then a few people have emailed me their favourite quotes, so I thought I would put them together for you to view. Here they are.
If you are interested, you can find the downloadable pptx version on my blog: http://alesandrab.wordpress.com/2013/05/22/your-favourite-quotes/
Trust Me - the science of trust in technology leadershipKate Matsudaira
No matter where you are in your organization, you want to be trusted by your boss, your team, and your friends. You want to be trusted to do a good job. You want to be someone who others can count on when things go wrong (and in operations roles, they frequently do). However, building trust isn't always so straightforward. Sure, you can earn someone's trust over time, but in the devops world, where you are bridging different disciplines and communication is key, how can you be sure you come off as trustworthy right away to the many people who depend on you? This talk will cover some of the science behind why people trust one another and give you some specific strategies to help you build trust and level up your career.
I was reminded recently of a quote by John F Kennedy:
"Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other"
As a leader and a trainer, you can see why I would appreciate this one!
I fully believe that as a leader my job is not just to develop my team, but also to recognise the potential in them, leverage their existing talents, to encourage them to see themselves for who they are and give them the confidence they need to become the people that they can be.
I also think that no matter how much we learn there is still infinitely more that we could learn, but also because when I train someone I want to inspire them to push the boundary of the subject, to learn more than I could ever teach them.
Then I was reminded of another quote, this time by Socrates:
Education is the kindling of a flame, not the filling of a vessel
Since my post a few weeks back on Leadership Quotes, I have received a few requests for quotes on training, development and learning so here goes...
Hope you find them as inspiring as I do! As usual, the presentation is available for download on my blog: http://wp.me/p37qal-nK
Over the holiday break I was asked if it was possible to have an accordion style, horizontally navigated presentation like this free website template: http://www.premiumpixels.com/freebies/stitched-fabric-accordion
As usual, I accepted the challenge and started work. Unfortunately the hyperlinks don't work on slideshare, but if you download the template and try it, you'll notice that clicking on the presentation text doesn't advance the screen. Instead, you have to click on the horizontal navigation buttons (though the arrow keys still work!).
This vertical navigation is created using basic shapes (rectangles + triangles) merged together using the union shape tool. Add a hyperlink on the top and voila. Feel free to use / change this presentation as you wish.
Any comments or questions, don't hesitate to get in touch! Have fun!

How to persuade learners with stories, emotions and moreAura Interactiva
The secret recipe to a truly persuasive eLearning course is simple, at least in theory. Professionals in the fields of psychology, advertising, marketing and copywriting, have talked about some “rules” on how to persuade people. But all these rules lead us to two things: the human brain and human emotions.

1) The document discusses how to move from isolated pockets of innovation to a culture of innovation in schools. It emphasizes focusing on relationships, learning experiences for staff, and narrowing the focus to meaningful creation and an open culture.
2) Key steps outlined include focusing on learning over technology, creating meaningful experiences for both students and staff, narrowing the focus, embracing an open culture and building leadership based on strengths.
3) The overall message is that innovative change is a human endeavor requiring a shift in mindset to view everyone as both teachers and learners and empowering an intrapreneurial spirit through an open culture of collaboration, creativity and meaningful learning experiences.

13 Steve Jobs Quotes for Creatives and DesignersStinson
Steve Jobs has been an inspiration to many creatives and designers throughout his career and beyond. This presentation is a simple tribute to that inspiration.
This document contains quotes from various notable figures throughout history on topics related to learning, education, creativity, problem solving, and personal growth. The quotes provide advice, observations, and perspectives on developing knowledge and skills, overcoming challenges, recognizing opportunities, making mistakes, thinking critically, and gaining self-confidence.
Once again, I have uploaded a powerpoint template for you to use / edit / adapt as you wish. This one started in tones of grey, but then I warmed it up with a little colour. Hope you like it.
Another week, another template… One of my previous templates, Metro UI Style template was such a big hit, I was asked to create another in a similar flat style. This time I was asked for something bright and bold. When I asked for two words to describe the template, I was given bubblegum and dark. So here it is. I introduce to you, “Boxed”.
I've been asked to put together a basic (and therefore relatively quick) introduction to Lean Six Sigma & DMAIC. While it’s not yet finished, I thought I would put it out there for people to comment on. Since the presentation is supposed to be training material there’s more text on the slides than I would prefer, but there are a few exercises and games to get the trainees involved.
I've put the PowerPoint version on my blog:

This document provides an overview of the 5S methodology for organizing and standardizing a workplace. The 5S's are: Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain. Sorting removes unnecessary items. Set in Order organizes items for efficiency. Shining refers to regular cleaning. Standardizing develops processes to maintain the first three S's. Sustaining creates monitoring systems to ensure standards are followed. Safety is an additional S that should be incorporated throughout to promote a safe work environment.
I've just finished a couple of PowerPoint templates for a friend, and thought since she decided not to use one, I would post it as a freebie. It's got a retro feel, which is quite popular right now. All of the icons, pictures and colours etc. can be adjusted as you wish!
Enjoy!
