The document discusses theories about the Second Advent or return of Jesus Christ based on interpretations of biblical passages. It explores different perspectives on whether the Second Advent will be a physical or spiritual event, and where it may occur. Specifically, it argues that Christ will return through being born in the flesh in an Eastern nation, not among the Jewish people as some believe, based on passages indicating he will come from the east. It also discusses theories about the meaning of Christ returning "on the clouds" and why Jesus used that language. The document analyzes different interpretations of prophecies around Christ's Second Advent in an attempt to clarify details about how and where it may happen.
Peter fulfilled Jesus' command to strengthen the brethren by travelling to different places to minister. This included performing healings, preaching to Gentiles despite being a Jew, and helping the early church accept Gentile converts. As the church grew, some believers had to flee persecution in Jerusalem but preached to Jews and Gentiles in other areas. In Antioch, many Gentiles converted to Christianity for the first time, though the church still struggled to fully accept Gentile converts. Further persecution by Herod led to the death of the apostle James and imprisonment of Peter, worrying the church, but God answered their prayers by freeing Peter.
Acts is one of the most action packed books of the Bible. Luke describes the spread of the gospel from Jerusalem to Rome The challenge of Jesus to take the gospel to the ends of the earth was impossible with out the power and leadership of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is mentioned 43 times in Acts more than any other book.
Dr. John Oakes did a presentation on the resurrection for the Berlin Church of Christ 7/19/2012. His power point and notes were updated and are attached here:
Peter fulfilled Jesus' command to strengthen his brethren by travelling and ministering. God used Peter to perform miracles like raising Tabitha from the dead, similar to what Jesus did. An angel instructed Cornelius to call Peter, who initially hesitated to preach to Gentiles but then had a vision convincing him to do so. When Gentiles received the Holy Spirit in Antioch, the church accepted them. As the church grew, Herod persecuted it and killed James, but God rescued Peter from prison.
1. Paul and Barnabas went on a second missionary journey to visit churches they had previously established. They split up, with Barnabas and John Mark going to Cyprus and Paul going to Asia Minor with Silas.
2. During this journey, Paul met Timothy in Lystra and circumcised him to help Jews accept his message more easily. Paul also had a vision of a man from Macedonia asking for help, prompting him to take the gospel to Europe for the first time.
3. In Philippi, Lydia became the first Christian convert in Europe. Paul and Silas were imprisoned but a jailer and his family were converted after an earthquake freed them.
Biblical and historical account of the birth of Jesus Christ the Son of God. Includes social issues and consequences of decisions for that time in history.
This document discusses evidence for dating the Book of Acts in the late 1st century CE. It notes that Acts references Bernice's affair with Emperor Titus, which places the text no earlier than 69 CE. It also mentions a possible quote from Acts in a letter by Ignatius of Antioch around 100 CE. The document then examines similarities between events described in Acts and those written about by Josephus to argue Acts was written after Josephus' works in the late 1st century. Finally, it analyzes inconsistencies between Acts and Paul's letters that make it difficult to claim the author of Acts was a companion of Paul, dating the text more firmly in the late 1st century CE.

The document discusses the background and context of the Book of Acts. It notes that Acts was written by Luke as a sequel to his gospel. Luke interviewed eyewitnesses like Paul, Barnabas, and Philip to record the spread of the early Christian church from Jerusalem to Rome. Key events included Peter's ministry, Paul's missionary journeys, and Paul's imprisonment and appeal to Caesar.
This lesson focuses on stories from the Bible about Peter and his relationship with Jesus. It discusses Peter's declaration that Jesus is the Christ/Son of God, his role as a "little stone" that Jesus will build his church upon, his temptation of Jesus in the garden, his experience at the transfiguration, and how Jesus paid the temple tax despite Peter thinking he did not need to as the Son of God. The lesson provides context and analysis for each biblical passage about Peter to understand his discipleship and role in the early church.
The document discusses the role of Gentiles in history and biblical prophecy. It outlines 3 major divisions in God's plan - Jews, Gentiles, and the Church. God revealed himself through the Jews and reveals his sovereignty through the Gentiles. Major Gentile powers mentioned in prophecy include Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, and the four empires of Daniel - Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece and Rome. The period of these empires is called "The Times of the Gentiles". The document suggests we may be approaching the end of this time, with events related to Christ's second coming and millennial kingdom to follow.
The document discusses the biblical rapture event where Jesus will return to gather believers. It notes that over 2,500 Bible verses reference this event and provides details on what it will be like based on passages in Revelation, Matthew, 1 Thessalonians and other books. Key points made include that Jesus will return visibly in the clouds, the dead will be resurrected, living believers will be caught up to meet Him, and He will remain in the air rather than come to earth immediately.
1. Paul and Barnabas completed their first missionary journey, preaching the gospel in several cities including Antioch, Salamis, Paphos, Pisidian Antioch, Iconium, Lystra, and Derbe. They faced opposition from Jews in some areas but had success converting both Jews and Gentiles.
2. At the end of their journey, Paul and Barnabas returned to the churches they had established to encourage and strengthen the new believers. They appointed elders and entrusted the churches to God before returning to Antioch to report on their missionary work.
3. It was important to Paul to consolidate the churches he founded and train younger workers to continue preaching
The document summarizes the chapters of the Book of Acts. It begins by noting that Acts tells the story of the spread of the early Christian church from Jerusalem, as Jesus commanded in Acts 1:8. It then provides a brief 1-2 sentence summary for each of the 28 chapters of Acts, with the first letter of each line spelling out a message when read vertically.
Deeper the return of the king - mar 13, 2011John Smith
The document is a collection of Bible passages and other Christian writings about the second coming of Christ and the end times. It discusses that:
1. Jesus will return physically and visibly in the same way he ascended into heaven.
2. When Jesus returns, he will judge both the living and the dead, with believers in Christ being saved and unbelievers facing eternal damnation.
3. No one knows the exact time of his return, only God the Father knows, so Christians should live holy lives in light of that coming judgment.
The document discusses the concept of cosmic spiritual warfare between good and evil. It outlines how Jesus defeated the devil through his life and ministry, performing exorcisms and miracles. The church continues Jesus' work by resisting evil through forgiveness, nonviolence, and building relationships of love. Believers can overcome the world's difficulties by having faith in Christ and praying continually for strength against temptation. The ultimate victory has already been won through Christ, but the battle continues until God makes all things new.

The birth of christ & the birth of a christianSam Ward
The document is a sermon that discusses the birth of Jesus Christ and the birth of a Christian. It makes three main points:
1. It discusses key facts about the birth of Jesus Christ from the Gospel of Matthew, including that he was conceived by the Holy Spirit, making him the Son of God and qualified to be mankind's sacrifice.
2. It explains that just as Jesus had to be born physically to become the Savior, Christians must be "born again" spiritually through faith to gain salvation.
3. It outlines how one enters the kingdom of God by exercising faith in Christ's provision of salvation, drawing on the biblical story of the bronze snake as an analogy for believing in God's
The first chapter of Acts recounts Jesus' final days on Earth and his ascension to heaven. It establishes the disciples' mission to be witnesses of Jesus in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the entire world. The disciples were instructed to wait in Jerusalem for the Holy Spirit, and spent their time in prayer and replacing Judas as one of the Twelve Apostles.

Simeon and Anna, devout followers awaiting the Messiah's coming, recognize Jesus as the long-promised Savior upon seeing him in the temple. Simeon prophesies that Jesus will be a light of revelation to the Gentiles and the glory of God's people Israel. He tells Mary that a sword will pierce her soul, foretelling her grief at Jesus' crucifixion. Anna, an 84-year-old widow who served God at the temple night and day with fasting and prayers, also speaks of the child to all who were awaiting the redemption of Jerusalem. The infant Jesus continues to grow in wisdom and in favor with God and men.
1) Jesus celebrated the Last Supper with his disciples on the night before his crucifixion during the Jewish Passover festival.
2) During the meal, Jesus instituted the Lord's Supper by having his disciples share bread and wine, which represented his body and blood that would be sacrificed.
3) With this act, Jesus established the new covenant of the Lord's Supper to replace the old covenant of the Jewish Passover, which commemorated deliverance from Egypt. The Lord's Supper now celebrates deliverance from sin through Jesus' sacrifice on the cross.
This document discusses why people often fail to make room for Jesus in their lives. It begins by recounting the biblical story of Mary giving birth to Jesus in a stable because there was no room for them in the inn. It then provides three reasons why people don't make room for Jesus: 1) They don't pay attention to him, 2) They fill their lives with other things so there is no space, and 3) They think they no longer need God. It encourages making room for Jesus because he created everyone and gives people purpose and peace. The document concludes by calling people to open their hearts to Jesus by hearing his voice and keeping nothing back from him.
Week 7 Theo Interpretation of the ChurchDevon Smith
This document provides an overview of key passages related to the church in the New Testament narrative. It discusses Jesus' Great Commission in Matthew 28, emphasizing the themes of worship, authority, baptism, and ongoing presence. It examines the purpose of Jesus' ascension in Daniel 7 and its enabling of the Spirit's sending. At Pentecost in Acts 2, the church is born as God's Spirit fills believers, making them God's temple. Passages in Isaiah, Ezekiel and Joel foretold the Spirit being poured out on the Messiah, Israel and all people. Acts 10 details how the Spirit fell on Gentiles, showing circumcision and dietary laws were no longer required.
Chafer, Bible Doctrines: The Church - body bride of ChristRichard Chamberlain
This document discusses the relationship between Christ and the church through 7 figures or images: 1) Christ as the shepherd and believers as the sheep, 2) Christ as the true vine and believers as branches, 3) Christ as the cornerstone and the church as stones in the building, 4) Christ as the high priest and believers as priest, 5) Christ as the head and the church as the body, 6) Christ as the last Adam and the church as the new creation, and 7) Christ as the bridegroom and the church as the bride. It also describes the church as Christ's body joined together by baptism in the Holy Spirit, with members having different gifts and roles, and united eternally in Christ
Matthew's gospel provides the link between the Old Testament and the New Testament of the Bible. He shows how Jesus' life fulfilled the prophecies concerning the Messiah. The key word for this Gospel is "Fulfilled". Matthew records Jesus' public teaching.
The document discusses Daniel's prophecy of the major empires that would rule Jerusalem from Babylon to the modern state of Israel. It analyzes the biblical feasts in relation to future events and Jesus' fulfillment of the feasts. The case is made for rebuilding the Third Temple on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem based on passages from the prophets and Jesus' own words.
This is a summary presentation of Chafer's teaching on dispensations. This is not my own opinion and is not necessarily commonly held in the Body of Christ today.
This document discusses the importance of living in both the Spirit and the Word. It contains several quotes and passages emphasizing that being filled with the Spirit alone leads to being blown up, while focusing only on the Word leads to drying up. True spiritual growth comes from living in both realms. Living in both the Spirit and Word results in revelation, power, effective communication of spiritual truths, and discernment. It encourages balancing ministry duties with maintaining a prophetic gift from God.

God's power is unlimited, creative, effortless, and self-generating. He creates out of nothing through the power within himself without strain. God's omnipotence means he can do all things according to his sovereign will and glory.
1) The document discusses discovering your God-given talents and abilities in order to serve Him effectively. It encourages making a list of your gifts, getting feedback, and experimenting with different types of service.
2) It emphasizes accepting your talents instead of comparing yourself to others, and enjoying the role God has shaped you for rather than feeling limited.
3) The document stresses the importance of continuously developing your talents over time so that your gifts may grow stronger through practice, experience, and using opportunities to improve.
The document discusses the omnipresence of God. It defines omnipresence as God's complete essence being fully present in all places at all times. It explores how God's omnipresence means there are no limitations on him in terms of space, flesh, or involvement in creation. God is intimately involved in the world and his presence cannot be avoided anywhere on earth or beyond.
This document discusses what it means to think like a servant. It outlines several key points, including that servants think more about others than themselves, see themselves as stewards rather than owners, are not concerned with money or what others are doing, base their identity in serving Christ, and see their ministry as an opportunity rather than an obligation. The overall message is that to truly be a servant requires changing one's mental approach to put others first and serve with humility, generosity, and joy.

Completion Of The FATHERs Work Of Salvation dennis cabilic
The document outlines the completion of God's salvation plan through Jesus Christ. It discusses how the plan started in the Garden of Eden, continued through the Jewish age and church age, and has now culminated in the establishment of God's kingdom on earth through His Son. The Son has now taken on the full role and authority of the Father to govern God's spiritual kingdom and nation.
The document provides background on Jesus' life and ministry. It discusses how he fulfilled prophecies by coming as the Messiah to restore what was lost in the Fall and establish God's kingdom on Earth. However, Jesus faced opposition from religious leaders who had Jesus arrested and crucified, though he was sinless. The document explores the theological significance of Jesus and John the Baptist in God's providence to save humanity.
The document is a summary of John 1:19-36 from a church service. It discusses John the Baptist denying he is the Messiah or Elijah when questioned by priests and Levites. John says he is the voice preparing the way for the Lord, as prophesied by Isaiah. The next day, John sees Jesus and declares him to be the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. John baptizes with water to make Jesus manifest to Israel, while Jesus baptizes with the Holy Spirit.
The document provides an overview and analysis of the Gospel of John. It notes that John was written later than the other gospels, around AD 90, and focuses on establishing Jesus as the Son of God through his "I am" statements and signs/miracles. John's purpose, according to 20:31, is to elicit belief that Jesus is the Christ and provide eternal life. The document examines stylistic differences between John and the other gospels and emphasizes themes of light, truth, and witnessing to Christ found in the prologue.
This document discusses the identity of Jesus Christ. It provides biblical passages showing that Jesus is God based on his use of the phrase "I am" and his relationship with God the Father. It argues that Jesus was not crucified on Good Friday but instead on a Wednesday based on an analysis of biblical accounts of Jesus' last days and Jewish calendar traditions. The document aims to correct misunderstandings and traditions not supported by scripture.
God chooses Abraham through whom to send the Messiah. Abraham is a man of faith who God promises to make into a great nation and through whom all nations will be blessed. Key figures like Isaac, Jacob, Joseph and Melchizedek prefigure aspects of Christ. The book of Genesis establishes major themes of the Bible - creation, the fall of man, God's plan for salvation, and his choosing of Israel as the people through whom the Messiah will come.
This document provides an introduction and overview of the Gospel of John. It discusses that John was written later than the Synoptic Gospels, around 90 AD, and contains much different doctrine. John focuses on eternal life through belief in Jesus Christ. The purpose of John was to promote belief in Jesus for eternal life. The Apostle John represents the Church and received special revelation about the end times.
1) The document discusses the humanity and deity of Jesus Christ. It explains that Jesus was fully God and fully man, having both a divine and human nature.
2) As a human, Jesus experienced physical needs like hunger and fatigue. He also had emotions and was tempted but did not sin. However, as God, Jesus performed miracles and had divine attributes.
3) The humanity of Jesus was important because it allowed him to reveal God to humans, be our sinless sacrifice, understand our temptations, and fulfill prophecies about the messiah. His resurrection proved that his life and death were accepted by God as the means to save humanity.
The document provides a summary and Bible study of 12 people and events from the New Testament, including Nicodemus, the Samaritan woman at the well, the transfiguration, and the woman caught in adultery. Each lesson provides background context, questions about key details and teachings, and conclusions about the spiritual lessons from each account. The purpose is to teach people about Jesus and his interactions with various individuals.
In "Looking at the Big Picture" we look at what life is all about according to the Bible by looking at Jesus, the gospel, the church and the mission of the church. This teaching is the introduction to the gospel series "Growing Deep in the Gospel".
The document provides background on Jesus' life and mission according to Christian texts. It discusses how God created humanity to be like him, but the fall of man corrupted this. It was then the mission of the Messiah, Jesus, to restore what was lost as the new Adam. Jesus took on John the Baptist's failed mission and restored the three blessings by overcoming Satan's temptations in the wilderness. He preached and baptized as John had done before being imprisoned and killed, while Jesus continued his work of teaching and healing the people of Galilee.
This document provides an overview of the humanity and deity of Jesus Christ based on a sermon given on Easter Sunday. It discusses how Jesus was fully God and fully man, explaining the theological concept of the incarnation. It explores Jesus' dual nature as revealed through his physical attributes and emotions as a man, as well as his divine works and relationship with God the Father. The sermon emphasizes why Jesus' humanity was essential for him to serve as the perfect sacrifice and mediator between God and humanity.
The John Series Part 9C This Temple C - Notes.pdfTheScribe4
- This generation refers not to a progression of time but to people who have Jesus Christ as their progenitor and father. It describes those who are part of the new covenant established by Christ's sacrifice.
- Private interpretations that see this generation as referring to the lifespan of Jesus' contemporaries fail because the gospel was meant to be preached until Christ's return, not just to that initial generation. The father of this chosen generation is Christ himself, and it comprises all believers across time who have eternal life in him.
The John Series Part 9C This Temple C - Notes.pdfTheScribe4
The document provides an analysis and interpretation of various biblical passages:
1) It examines Jesus' statement about destroying the temple in John 2:19, concluding he was referring to his own body, not the physical temple.
2) It analyzes what Jesus meant by "this kind" of demon in Mark 9:29, arguing he was referring to unbelief that needs faith to come forth.
3) It discusses what Jesus meant by "this generation" in Matthew 24:34, asserting he meant the body of believers born again in Christ, not a specific time period.
The document aims to correct faulty private interpretations and promote the apostles' intended public interpretations.
The document discusses the Hebrew feasts and their connection to biblical prophecies and the sanctuary message. It notes two great disappointments experienced by Jesus' disciples and Millerites that paralleled the spring and fall feasts. It explores the fulfillment of prophecies around 1844 and the establishment of the Seventh-day Adventist church thereafter. Key aspects of the sanctuary doctrine and their representation in Revelation are summarized.
The document discusses evidence for the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. It addresses theories such as the disciples suffering hallucinations or making up the story, but rejects these based on eyewitness accounts and the disciples' willingness to suffer persecution preaching the resurrection. The document argues that the empty tomb, changed lives of followers, and early creeds establishing the resurrection show it was a real historical event that transformed the disciples and gave meaning and hope to believers.
The document summarizes the key messages about Jesus' birth conveyed in the gospels of Luke.
1) An angel told Mary she would give birth to Jesus, the Son of God, who would reign over Israel forever. 2) Angels announced to shepherds that a Savior, Christ the Lord, had been born for all people. 3) Angels praised God for his mercy and grace, and that peace comes through Jesus to all who have faith in him.
The document is a summary of the Gospel of John chapter 1 verses 19-36 from a church in Jackson, Mississippi. It includes commentary on John the Baptist's testimony about Jesus and Jesus being identified as the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. Links and quotes are provided for further biblical context. Major Jewish holidays are also listed, with some noting potential connections to the rapture and second coming of Jesus.
The document summarizes Chafer's views on the purpose of the church based on chapter 36 of his work. It outlines that the present purpose is calling people out of the world to form the body of Christ, not converting the world. It will be transformed after Christ's return. The formation of the church involves believers reaching unity and maturity. Each believer is commissioned to proclaim the gospel through sacrificial giving, prayer, speaking, and other means as led by the Spirit.

This document discusses the importance of making disciples who make disciples based on the models of Jesus and Paul. It notes that while many churches believe in and teach discipleship, few actually implement disciple-making processes like intentional relationships and accountability. The document cites examples of churches that grew when they shifted from a program-based to a relationship-based discipleship approach and created clear spiritual pathways expecting life transformation. It encourages pastors to invest in discipling relationships above all other activities.
It is common to refer to the process of maturing as a disciple as spiritual formation. Here, based upon work by Greg Ogden, I give a four stage process for growing into maturity, and fruitfulness, as a follower of King Jesus.
Jesus expected a process of change, growth and development in the life of his followers. Many writers suggest a three or four stage process. A four stage process is outlined here, along with personal challenge / application.
Disciple-Making, according to Greg Ogden requires at least tow major factors: Internalisation and Multiplication. This presentation adds to his ideas with some scripture and illustrative ideas challenging followers of Christ to become, and make, disciples in his image.
Name someone...who has impacted your life.
Disiple-making is a deliberate act requiring discipline and dedication
“Discipleship is all about living the life together rather than just one structured meeting each week” Chan
This document provides a summary of the New Testament story in four hours. It is divided into three time periods in the life of Jesus: 1) His first 30 years before ministry, 2) His three years of public ministry in and around Israel, and 3) His crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension. The first section focuses on Jesus' birth and early life, including key details from the nativity story presented in the gospels of Matthew and Luke.
This document provides an overview and summary of key events and people in the Old Testament from Eden to Israel entering the Promised Land. It discusses 4 main moves: 1) From Eden to Israel; 2) From Israel to Egypt; 3) 40 years in the wilderness; 4) Entering the Promised Land. Key points covered include Creation, the Fall, Noah, Abraham, Joseph in Egypt, Moses and the Exodus, receiving the 10 Commandments at Mt. Sinai, and Joshua leading the people into Canaan.
The document provides guidance on discipleship and disciple-making. It begins by defining a disciple as someone who is following Jesus, being changed by Jesus, and committed to Jesus' mission. It then discusses the importance of discipleship, noting that disciples are meant to be world-changers and that one-on-one discipleship is the most effective method, replicating itself over time. The document concludes by outlining models of discipleship, including sharing the gospel, connecting with others, helping them minister, and ultimately making them disciples who can repeat the process.
The document summarizes the biblical story of Babel in Genesis 11, where all humanity spoke one language but decided to build a tower to make themselves famous. God responded by confusing their languages, scattering them across the earth and enforcing his command to spread out. It also discusses the origins of different ethnicities and races. The next section introduces Abraham, called at age 75 to leave Haran and given promises by God of land, descendants and blessing through his offspring. The covenant with Abraham sets the agenda for the rest of the Bible by being fulfilled through Christ.
The document outlines key events in the biblical story of humanity's origins and early history:
1. God creates the universe and places the first man and woman in the Garden of Eden.
2. Adam and Eve rebel against God and are banished from the Garden, introducing sin and brokenness into the world.
3. As sin and death spread, God brings a flood to wipe out most of humanity while saving Noah, his family, and two of every kind of animal on an ark.
This document provides an overview of the upcoming "The Old Testament Story" learning and development series starting on September 2nd. It outlines the 4 main movements of the Old Testament story from Eden to Israel, Israel in the promised land, Israel to exile and return. Key details include the main people, events, and sections covered within the 11 most important books that make up 95% of the Old Testament narrative.

PHASE-IV
The very deep experience of silence helps to expand from the 3 - dimensional awareness of the body to all pervasive awareness. The bed of silence becomes deeper and more expansive - an ocean of silence with waves on it merge into complete silence called Ajapa state of the mind. This silence is the source of Creativity, Power, Knowledge and Bliss.
PHASE V
From this deep ocean of silence in the heart region, let one OM emerge as an audible sound which diffuses into the entire body and the space all around. Enjoy the beautiful vibrations.
Blink the eyes slowly, gently open the eyes and come out of meditation.
Tales of This and Another Life - Chapters.pdfMashaL38
This book is one of the best of the translated ones, for it has a warning character for all those who find themselves in the experience of material life. Irmão X provides a shrewd way of describing the subtleties and weaknesses that can jeopardize our intentions, making us more attentive and vigilant by providing us with his wise pages, reminding us between the lines of the Master's words: "Pray and watch."
Introduction
Mantra Yoga is an exact science. "Mananat trayate iti mantrah- by the Manana (constant thinking or recollection) of which one is protected or is released from the round of births and deaths, is Mantra." That is called Mantra by the meditation (Manana) on which the Jiva or the individual soul attains freedom from sin, enjoyment in heaven and final liberation, and by the aid of which it attains in full the fourfold fruit (Chaturvarga), i.e., Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha. A Mantra is so called because it is achieved by the mental process.
Lição 12: João 15 a 17 – O Espírito Santo e a Oração Sacerdotal | 2° Trimestr...OmarBarrezueta1

The Book of Revelation, filled with symbolic and apocalyptic imagery, presents one of its most striking visions in Revelation 9:3-12—the locust army. Understanding the significance of this locust army provides insight into the broader themes of divine judgment, protection, and the ultimate triumph of God’s will as depicted in Revelation.
Astronism, Cosmism and Cosmodeism: the space religions espousing the doctrine...Cometan
This lecture created by Brandon Taylorian (aka Cometan) specially for the CESNUR Conference held Bordeaux in June 2024 provides a brief introduction to the legacy of religious and philosophical thought that Astronism emerges from, namely the discourse on transcension started assuredly by the Cosmists in Russia in the mid-to-late nineteenth century and then carried on and developed by Mordecai Nessyahu in Cosmodeism in the twentieth century. Cometan also then provides some detail on his story in founding Astronism in the early twenty-first century from 2013 along with details on the central Astronist doctrine of transcension. Finally, the lecture concludes with some contributions made by space religions and space philosophy and their influences on various cultural facets in art, literature and film.

3. God The Son
His
Resurrection
Thursday 19 May 2011
4. A. Resurrection in the OT
Resurrection of men and
Christ are taught in the OT -
Job 19:25-27
Specific OT prophecies of
resurrection of the human
body - Job 14:13-15, Isa
26:19, Dan 12:2
The resurrection of Christ -
Ps 16:9-10 - not seeing
corruption is not being in the
ground long enough for a
body to decay (Acts 2:24-31)
Ps 22: 22, 118:22-24
Thursday 19 May 2011
5. B. Christ’s prediction of his own
resurrection
These are frequent
and explicit in the
Gospels, making it
hard to question:
Matt 16:21, 17:23,
20:17-19, 28-29,
31-32, Mk 9:30-32
Thursday 19 May 2011
6. C. Proofs of the resurrection of Christ
There is a lot of NT evidence
for the resurrection - at least
17 post resurrection
appearances:
1. To Mary Magdalene - Jn
20:11-17
2. To women - Matt 28:9-10
3. To Peter - Lk 24:34
4. Emmaus Road - Lk
24:13-35
5. When Thomas was
absent - Lk 26:34-43
Thursday 19 May 2011
7. 6. To the 11 a week after the
resurrection - Jn 20:26-29
7. To 7 disciples by Galilee -
Jn 21:1-23
8. To 500 - 1 Cor 15:6
9. To James, the Lord’s
brother - 1 Cor 15:7
10. To the 11 on the
mountain in Galilee - Matt
28:16-20
11. When ascending from
the Mt. of Olives - Lk 24:44ff
12. To Stephen before he was
martyred - Acts 7:55-56
Thursday 19 May 2011
8. 13. To Paul on the
Damascus road - Acts 9:
3-6 14. To Paul in Arabia -
Acts 20:24
15. To Paul in the temple
- Acts 22: 17-21
16. To Paul in prison in
Caesarea - Acts 23: 11
17. To John - Rev 1:
12-20
Thursday 19 May 2011
9. D. Reasons for the resurrection
Christ arose...
1. Because of who he is -
Acts 2:24
2. To fulfill the Davidic
covenant - 2 Sam 7:12-16,
Isa 9:6-7, Lk 1:33-35
3. To give resurrection life
- Jn 10:10-11, 11:25-26,
Eph 2:6
4. To be the source of
resurrection power - Matt
28:18, Eph 1:19-21
Thursday 19 May 2011
10. 5. To be head over the
church - Eph 1:20-23
6. Because our justification
has been accomplished -
Rom 4:25
7. To be the firstfruits of
resurrection - 1 Cor 15:
20-23
Thursday 19 May 2011
11. E. The significance of the resurrection
The resurrection is the most
important proof for the deity
of Christ - power over death
and sin is therefore the divine
standard.
Chafer suggests the first day
of the week in this
dispensation is about
commemorating the
resurrection not observing
the sabbath.
1 Cor 15:17 -And if Christ
has not been raised, your
faith is futile and you are still
in your sins.
Thursday 19 May 2011
12. God The Son
His Ascension
and Priestly
Ministry
This is a really terrible
picture of Jesus
Thursday 19 May 2011
13. A. The fact of the ascension of Christ
Mk 16:19, Lk 24:50-51, Act
1:9-11 - predicted in Jn 20:17
Acts 1:9-11 says this was a literal
fact -”...he was lifted up, and a
cloud took him out of their
sight. And while they were gazing
into heaven as he went...This
Jesus, who was taken up from
you into heaven, will come in the
same way as you saw him go into
heaven."
There is significance in this being
a literal event as Jesus will
return in the same way.
Thursday 19 May 2011
14. B. The arrival of Christ in heaven
On a number of
occasions scripture
testifies to Christ having
arrived in heaven:
Acts 2:33-36, 3:21,
7:55-56, 9:3-6, Eph
1:20-22, Php 2:6-11,
Heb 1:3, 13, 2:7, Rev
1:7, 13-18, 5:5-12,
6:9-17, 14:1-5,
19:11-16
Thursday 19 May 2011
15. C. The meaning of the Ascension
The return of Christ to heaven
marked the end of his earthly
ministry. Also his glory, which
had been hidden whilst he was
on earth, returned. His
entrance into heaven was in
triumph and into a new work at
the right hand of the Father.
Ps 110:1, Matt 22:24, Mk
12:36, 16:19, Lk 20:42-43
Thursday 19 May 2011
16. In heaven he is
universal Lord awaiting
his triumphal second
coming to earth. Christ
is on the Fathers throne
in heaven, not the
Davidic earthly throne.
Earth will one day be his
footstool and he will
have a throne on earth -
Matt 25:31
Thursday 19 May 2011
17. D. The present work of Christ in heaven
There are 7 truths relating to
Christ and his church and his
present work within it:
1. He is the last Adam, head of
the new creation
2. Head of the Body of Christ
3. The Great Shepherd
4. The True Vine
5. The chief cornerstone
6. The High Priest
7. The Bridegroom
His present chief ministry is as
High Priest representing the
church before God
Thursday 19 May 2011
18. 1. As high priest Christ ministers
in heaven on behalf of those who
belong to him in the world. Heb
8:1-2
Being received by the Father shows
his earthly ministry has been
accepted. Sitting on the Fathers
throne shows that he is expecting a
time when his kingdom will come on
earth and his will be done “on earth
as in heaven” The time will come
when
Rev 11:15 -"The kingdom of the
world has become the kingdom of our
Lord and of his Christ, and he shall
reign forever and ever." (also Ps 2:8)
Thursday 19 May 2011
19. 2. As high priest he gives
spiritual gifts - spiritual abilities
given by the HSp.
Rom 12:3-8, 1 Cor 12:4-11 -
Chafer says these are examples,
but that the life has to be wholly
yielded to God for the gift to be
fully experienced - Rom 12:1-2,
6-8
Also Eph 4:7-11 shows gifts of
men given locally to the church
1 Cor 12:11 -All these are
empowered by one and the same
Spirit, who apportions to each
one individually as he wills.
Thursday 19 May 2011
20. 3. The ascended Christ
intercedes for his people -
begun by him before he left
the earth - Jn 17:1-26 - he
does this knowing the
weakness and limitations of
his people - his care f Peter is
used to illustrate this - Lk
22:31-32
Christ’s intercession is
unending
Heb 7:25 -he is able to save
to the uttermost those who
draw near to God through
him, since he always lives to
make intercession for them.
Thursday 19 May 2011
21. 4. Christ stands before God on
behalf of his own - sin
separates the sinner from God
and is removed only by what
Jesus did. 1 Jn 1:9
What effect does our sin have
upon a holy God?
Because of Christ’s advocacy we
have absolute security even when
we are sinning! An advocate
pleads the case of another
Heb 9:24 -For Christ has
entered... into heaven itself, now
to appear in the presence of God
on our behalf.
Thursday 19 May 2011
22. Rev 12:10 - ...for the
accuser of our brothers has
been thrown down, who
accuses them day and night
before our God.
Satan accuses us before God
day and night - we need the
intercession of Jesus. God
does not treat any sin lightly
and it needs the blood of
Jesus to be pleaded before
God to preserve and free us
from Gods righteous
judgement of sin.
Thursday 19 May 2011
23. This knowledge is given
to help us stop sinning,
not to make excuses for
us to sin - 1 Jn 2:1 -My
little children, I am
writing these things to
you so that you may not
sin. But if anyone does
sin, we have an advocate
with the Father, Jesus
Christ the righteous.
Thursday 19 May 2011
24. E. The present work of Christ on earth
Christ is said to indwell and be
with his church even whilst he
is in heaven - Matt 28:18-20
He abides in his church by
giving eternal life to them - Jn
1:4, 10;10, 11:25
Jn 14:23 -"If anyone loves
me, he will keep my word, and
my Father will love him, and
we will come to him and make
our home with him.”
Christ calls people to his body,
empowers and sanctifies them
to be his witnesses on earth.
