This 11-week cell biology course is assessed through a written exam worth 75% of the marks and a practical assessment worth 25% of the marks. Students can complete one or two practical assessments, with the highest mark converted to a score out of 25. The course will examine how cells, as the smallest units of life in some organisms, carry out the characteristics of living things such as movement, respiration, sensitivity, nutrition, waste excretion, reproduction and growth.

 Living things have the following
characteristics:
They move, respire, are sensitive, need
nutrition, excrete waste products, reproduce
and grow. We will be looking at how cells carry
out these processes.
