- 1. CCF 3 Learning Practical Skills
- 2. At the beginning of our A1 media course, it was safe to say that most of us and me especially, had little to non experience, in planning and shooting a sequence. however, through out the next 8 weeks, we’ve learnt basic rules and how to correctly use a camera and editing tool to create our sequence.
- 3. At the beginning, we learn about the basic set up and adjustments we have to make to a camera so that we get a clear and beautiful shot. As shown from my very first blog post reflecting on the practical skills we’ve learnt, I really started from knowing nothing about filming. Slowly learning know to operate a camera to film shots that are in focus, lit, and with the right white balance.
- 4. The importance of learning these camera adjustments and set ups and the constant practice afterwards allowed me and classmates in our group to be more confident in setting up and shoot useable footage that makes editing later easier as we don’t have to try and correct the lighting or tones.
- 5. While learning about shooting an opening sequence, i’ve also learn about how to shoot a sequence and the rules when shooting that will make our sequence make sense and have a good flow of continuity. This includes learning about the 180 degrees rule that makes sure that when shooting a dialogue, the character will look like they are talking to each other instead of facing the same way on screen. We also learnt about how to direct a shoot and how to interact with the actors by setting up marks for the actors to hit. By doing this, it will make sure that our sequence will have a good continuity as the character will be doing the same thing each time, therefore when we edit from the different shots we’ve filmed - close up, mid and wide, it will flow well

- 7. Another key thing we’ve learn in practical workshops, is how to edit. We were given the adobe premier app to edit sequence.
- 8. In our editing lessons, we learn about the terminologies of editing such as rushers and bin, this gave me a better idea on how a sequence should look like and the techniques and short cuts i could use when editing my sequence to make it look more professional.
- 9. All of the training and practice from working with cameras and editing software allowed me to develop from a complete beginner to a person who can some what confidently operate a camera and shoot a sequence.
