Light is a form of electromagnetic radiation that is visible to the human eye. It travels in straight lines in a homogeneous medium and exhibits properties such as reflection (bouncing off surfaces) and refraction (bending when passing between different media). Light shows both wave-like and particle-like behavior, known as wave-particle duality. It travels at a very high speed of approximately [3 \times 10^8] meters per second in a vacuum. The different wavelengths of visible light correspond to different colors, with violet having the shortest wavelength and red the longest. Light's properties form the basis for many optical phenomena and technologies such as lenses, mirrors, and prisms.
