RIZAL’S MESSAGE TO
FILIPINOWOMEN
Jose Rizal was very inspired by the brave actions of the
young women of Malolos. In his letter, he expressed great
happiness and pride in their efforts. Rizal strongly believed
that women should have the same chance to get an
education as men. During that time, girls were usually not
sent to school because people thought they would just
become wives and stay at home. But Rizal stressed that
both boys and girls should have the freedom to think for
themselves and the right to go to school.

TEST YOUR REASONING!
• In his letter "To the Young Women of Malolos," Jose
Rizal emphasized that women and men should
have equal rights. With that in mind, do you believe
that inequality between men and women still exists
today in terms of privileges?
• What do you think will happen if Jose Rizal did
not annotated the Antonio Morgan's book
"Sucesos de Las Islas Filipinas"?
9.
TEST YOUR REASONING!
• If you're Jose Rizal living today,
what will be your message to the
young Filipino women and men?
