According to surveys, 51% of people who play games identify as gamers, 38% play games but do not identify as gamers, and 10% do not play games. There are mixed views among the general public about whether games are a waste of time or help develop skills - around a quarter see them as a waste of time while over a third think they help skills. Gamers themselves are more likely than non-players to see games as better than TV and believing they develop problem solving skills and teamwork.
