ring (34) onto the spindle.

Note: Use a driver that is nearly the same diameter as the outside diameter of the metal seal
case. Do not apply excessive force on a seal that is fully seated. Excessive force may deform
the seal case. Deforming the seal case may cause the seal to leak.

the surface of hub in four places. The maximum allowable difference in the four
measurements is 1.0 mm (0.04 inch). If an adjustment must be made to the seal, use Tooling
(F) to adjust Duo-Cone seal (30).

set to −29 °C (−20 °F) to lower the temperature of the components.
Refer to Reusability of Tapered Bearings, SEBF8190.
6. If bearing cups (28) and (29) were removed. Lower the temperature of bearing cups (28)
and (29) and install bearing cups (28) and (29) in the hub. Make sure that bearing cups (28)
and (29) are fully seated to the hub.
7. Use Tooling (F) to install the Duo-Cone seal (27) in the hub.
8. Use a depth micrometer and measure the distance between the surface of Duo-Cone seal
(27) and the surface of the hub at four places. The maximum allowable difference in the
four measurements is 1.0 mm (0.04 inch). If an adjustment is necessary, use Tooling (F) to

12. Install retainer (18) and bolts (17). Rotate hub (25) and tighten bolts (17) to locate the
bearing in the correct position. Tighten bolts (17) to a torque of 215 ± 40 N·m
(160 ± 30 lb ft). Leave retainer (18) in place until the bearing has become cool. Remove
retainer (18) and Tooling (G).

approximately 84 kg (185 lb). Put hub (21) in position in gear (22) and install ring (23).

Make sure the short support of Tooling (A) is on the bottom and the
long support is on the top when distances (X) and (Y) are made.
1. Adjust bolts (1) on Tooling (A) until Dimension (X) is 114.3 mm (4.50 inch) and
Dimension (Y) is 25.4 mm (1.00 inch).

2. Remove five bolts from the sprocket segments. Attach a suitable lifting device and Tooling
(A) on final drive (3).
3. Adjust bolts (2) until the heads of bolts (2) are against final drive (3).

NOTICE
Do not remove three bolts (4) that hold the steering clutch and brake
together.
4. Remove bolts (6) that hold the final drive and the steering clutch and brake to the main
frame. Do not remove bolts (4).
5. Remove bolts (5) that hold the steering clutch and brake to the main frame. Remove the
final drive and the steering clutch and brake as an assembly. The weight of the final drive
and steering clutch and brake is approximately 2665 kg (5865 lb).

6. Remove the O-ring seals from the face of steering clutch and brake (7).
7. Remove bolts (4) that hold steering clutch and brake (7) to the final drive.
8. Attach a suitable lifting device and Tooling (B) to steering clutch and brake (7). Remove
steering clutch and brake (7) from the final drive. The weight of steering clutch and brake
(7) is approximately 454 kg (1001 lb).
