b. Install bearing cone (31) onto shaft assembly (36).
Assemble the pump without shim (10) in order to check the preload of bearing cone
(7).
Illustration 7 g06143218
c. Position the head assembly onto the main drive pump housing. Install bolts
(25).Tighten bolts (25) to a torque of 205 ± 10 N·m (151 ± 7 lb ft).
Illustration 8 g06143597
d. Set bearing preload before you install the rotating group. The bearing preload should
be 0.00 to 0.05 mm (0.000 to 0.002 inch) .
e. Install Tooling (E) into shaft assembly (36). Install Tooling (D) onto the pump
housing. Use Tooling (D) to determine the end play of shaft (36). Be sure that you
move shaft (36) completely in both directions. Use appropriate tools to move shaft
(36).
f. If necessary, grind the adjustment shim to obtain the correct dimension between the
head assembly and the main drive pump housing. If necessary, replace the shim with
a new part.

12. g. The thickness of the shim should equal the end play measurement plus 0.0508 mm
(0.00200 inch). For example, if the end play is 2.1590 mm (0.08500 inch) then the
shim thickness should be 2.2098 mm (0.08700 inch).
h. Record the measurement.
i. If necessary, grind the shim to the determined measurement.
j. Remove the head assembly from the main drive pump housing. Remove the bearing
cone and the adjustment shim from the shaft assembly.
k. Proceed with the assembly of the main hydraulic pump.
