This document provides disassembly instructions for the transmission planetary system of a 637G Wheel Tractor. It outlines 50 steps to fully disassemble the transmission, including removing clutch housings, carrier assemblies, shafts, gears, plates, rings, seals and other components. Special care must be taken when removing components under spring pressure. Various tools are required to properly support, secure and remove parts from the transmission.

B. Remove the transmission hydraulic control valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly ,
"Transmission Hydraulic Control Valve - Remove".

3. Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during
performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair
of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers
before opening any compartment or disassembling any component
containing fluids.
Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service
Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain
fluids on Caterpillar products.
Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

suitable lifting device onto clutch housing (5) . Remove clutch housing (5) from the
transmission assembly. The weight of clutch housing (5) is approximately 27 kg (60 lb).

Note: Friction discs and clutch plates that are removed from each clutch housing should be
kept with the correct clutch housing. Mixing the clutch plates and friction discs may cause
improper operation of the transmission or damage to the transmission.
