8. Install hose assembly (5) and lock the hose assembly in position. Apply pressure in order to
snap the hose assembly into the quick coupling for each of the ends.
Note: Be sure to check the connection by pulling back on the hose.

Note: Apply Tooling (A) to the outside diameter of the male ends of exhaust manifold (2) if
exhaust manifold (2) is disassembled. Assemble exhaust manifold (2) and remove the
excess sealer from the joints.
1. Apply Tooling (B) to the threads of bolts (1). Position the gaskets and exhaust manifold (2)
on the cylinder head assembly. Install locks (3) and bolts (1).

(35 � 9 lb in).
3. Tighten bolt (1) through bolt (12) in a numerical sequence 45 � 5 N�m (33 � 4 lb ft).
Note: Prior to starting or running the engine, allow the sealant in the exhaust manifold joints
to air dry for 24 hours.
End By:
a. Install the turbocharger. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Turbocharger - Install".

Removal Procedure
Start By:
a. Remove the air inlet heater. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Air Inlet Heater -
Remove and Install".
b. Remove the fuel filter base. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Filter Base -
Remove and Install".

1. Disconnect harness assembly (2) for the boost sensor.
2. Remove the bolts and mounting bracket (1) for the fuel filter base.
3. Remove the bolts and air inlet cover (3).

18. Installation Procedure

1. Inspect the gasket for air inlet cover (3). Replace the gasket, if necessary.
2. Position air inlet cover (3), mounting bracket (1) for fuel filter base, and the wiring clip on
the cylinder head. Install the bolts.
3. Connect harness assembly (2) for the boost sensor.
End By:
a. Install the fuel filter base. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Filter Base - Remove
and Install".
b. Install the air inlet heater. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Air Inlet Heater - Remove
and Install".

3. Remove eight bolts (4). Remove air inlet elbow (3).
Installation Procedure
NOTICE
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.
Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
1. Clean the joint face on the air inlet elbow and the joint face on the air inlet cover with
solvent. Apply 4C-9500 Quick Cure Primer on the joint face. Allow the primer to air dry for
a minimum of three to five minutes.
2. Apply 1U-8846 Sealant to the joint face of the air inlet elbow and to the joint face of the air
inlet cover. Installation of the air inlet elbow must be within ten minutes of application of
the sealant.

Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a
released spring force.
Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.
Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to
release the spring force.
1. Use Tooling (A) to compress valve spring (4). Remove retainer lock (6).
2. Remove Tooling (A). Remove spring retainer (5), valve spring (4), and washer (3).
3. Remove valve seal (1) and valve (2).
4. Repeat Steps 1 through 3 in order to remove the remaining inlet valves and exhaust valves.
