1. Remove bolts (1) and valve (2).
2. Remove O-ring seals (3).
Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a
released spring force.
Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.
Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to
release the spring force.
3. Remove plug (9), the O-ring seal, retainer (8), spring (7), retainer (6), spool (5), plug (4),
and the O-ring seal.

4. Remove plug (16), the O-ring seal, retainer (15), spring (14), rod (13), retainer (12), spool
(11), plug (10), and the O-ring seal.
5. Remove bolts (17) and head (18).
6. Remove piston (22), piston (21), spring (24), gasket (19), port plate (20), and bearing cup
(23).

7. Remove bearing cone (25).
8. Remove shim (26), barrel (27), and dowel (28).

9. Use Tooling (A), Tooling (B), and a suitable press in order to remove retaining ring (32)
from barrel (27).
10. Remove washer (31), spring (30), and washer (29).
11. Remove bolts (33) and cover (34).

12. Remove O-ring seal (35).
13. Remove plug (36).
14. Remove shaft (37), bolts (39), and plates (38).

15. Remove plates (40), retainer (41), and pistons (42).
16. Remove swashplate (43).
17. Remove screws (45), bearings (44), bearing cone (46), and bearing cup (47).

18. Remove lip seal (50).
19. Use Tooling (C) in order to remove retaining ring (49).
20. Remove lip seal (48).

Assembly Procedure
1. Install lip seal (48).
2. Use Tooling (C) in order to install retaining ring (49).
3. Install lip seal (50).

4. Install screws (45), bearings (44), bearing cone (46), and bearing cup (47).
5. Install swashplate (43).
6. Install shaft (37).
7. Install plug (36).
8. Install dowel (28).

Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily
injury.
To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure
and wear protective equipment.
9. Install washer (31), spring (30), and washer (29).
10. Use Tooling (A), Tooling (B) and a suitable press in order to install retaining ring (32) onto
barrel (27).
11. Install pistons (42) into retainer (41) and barrel (27).

12. Install barrel (27).
13. Install shim (26) and bearing cone (25).

14. Position plates (40) and plates (38).
15. Install bolts (39).
16. Install piston (22), piston (21), spring (24), gasket (19), port plate (20), and bearing cup
(23).

seal. Install plug (16) and the O-ring seal.

21. Install bolts (1) and valve (2).
End By:

Installation Procedure
NOTICE
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.
Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Note: Check the O-ring seals for wear or for damage. Replace the components, if necessary.
1. Install O-ring seal (9) to piston pump (7).

2. Attach a suitable lifting device to piston pump (7). The weight of piston pump (57) is
approximately 52 kg (115 lb). Use the suitable lifting device in order to position piston
pump (7) to the machine.
3. Install bolts (8).
4. Connect hose assembly (4) and (5). Connect bracket assembly (6).

5. Connect harness assembly (1). Connect hose assemblies (2) and (3).
End By:
a. Install the piston pump (hydraulic fan). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Piston Pump
(Hydraulic Pump)- Install".

Removal Procedure
Start By:
a. Remove the rear chassis support. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Rear Chassis
Support - Remove".
NOTICE
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.
Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
NOTICE
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during
performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair
of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers
before opening any compartment or disassembling any component
containing fluids.
Refer to Special Publication, PERJ1017, "Dealer Service Tool
Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on
Cat®
products.
Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

1. Disconnect fitting (1). Disconnect hose assemblies (2) and (3).
2. Disconnect hose assemblies (4) and (6). Disconnect hose (5).
3. Disconnect harness assemblies (7) and (8). Disconnect hose assemblies (9).

4. Attach suitable lifting devices to all wheel drive piston pumps (10). The weight of all wheel
drive piston pumps (10) is approximately 111 kg (245 lb).
5. Remove bolts (11) and all wheel drive piston pumps (10).
