technology crafted from 100 % natural materials. Technical
advancements in our profiles provide unparalleled structural
characteristics. GAULHOFER only uses high altitude winter-
felled Spruce or Larch from sustainable Austrian forests. The
high altitude combined with short summer seasons ensure
that the Alps Larch grows particularly slow, providing unique
raw density, stability and resistance to decay.
Gentle drying of the wood is performed at the Styrian
GAULHOFER works during the whole production process. Only
a few manufacturers offer such in-house drying. But this is the
only way to guarantee real GAULHOFER quality.

5. SEALED TIGHT
The manually pressed and smoothed GAULHOF
wet-sealing with UV-resistant GAULHOFER
silicone keeps the glass connection tightly
and permanently sealed. Contrary to the usual
dry glazing, the wood is protected against un-
controlled ingress of humidity for a long time.
Thus, the glass edge is separated from the cold
outdoor climate almost completely.
WARM
Thermally optimized glass spacers Thermostop®
(standard) or Thermostop®Plus (optional) improve
the heat insulation of the glass edge and prevent
formation of condensate.
PROTECTED
With the sophisticated inner glazed GAULHOFER
windows, the glasses are outward-protected
by a massive glass rabbet made of the corres-
ponding wing material. Thus, the glass edge is
separated from the cold outdoor climate almost
completely.

provides three surrounding seals. The central
seal is perfectly positioned with regard to the

The sophisticated GAULHOFER Audiostop® keeps
noise, cold, wind and rain outside, thanks to three
circumferential seals. The central seal is perfectly
positioned with regard to the 10-degree isothermal
curve so that the cold outdoor climate is efficiently
separated from the warm and humid indoor climate.
This prevents the pesky formation of condensation in
the rebate area. Another plus point for your window’s
excellent insulation.
The better the thermal insulation your windows offer, the
less energy is emitted to the outside. This is measured with
the so-called U-value, the thermal transmission coefficient.
The lower this coefficient is, the better are your window’s
insulation characteristics.
For you, the really significant value is the one showing
you the window’s overall performance. This value is the
UW-value. It is composed of several partial values: the
Ug-value which solely refers to the glass, the Uf-value for
the frame and the PSI-value for the glass edge.
By the way: All compound windows have a UW-value of
roughly 3.0 W/m2K and windows with insulation glazing
achieve between 2.8 and 3.0 W/m2K. GAULHOFER’s energy
saver ENERGYLINE PLUS achieves 0.59 W/m2K.

A window’s noise insulation characteristics are determined
by measuring the difference between the sound level
inside and the one outside and is expressed in dB (decibel).
If, for example, a car passes in front of your window and
emits 100 dB of sound and you only hear 65 dB, your win-
dow has a sound insulation value RW of 35 dB. The higher a
window’s RW-value, the better its noise insulation.
By the way: Noise insulation windows score points with
the thickness of the glass. Thanks to GAULHOFER windows’

noise insulation for practically all elements without making
compromises in terms of thermal insulation.

Incoming radiation is measured by the level of solar energy
present outside and expressed in the g-value. The higher
a window’s transmittance in %, the more energy you can
bring into your house through the windows. The optical
transmittance value TL shows how many percent of the
light energy present in the house’s proximity can pass to
the interior. The higher the TL-value, the brighter the inside
of your house.
By the way: GAULHOFER offers the same level of sunlight

GAULHOFER has been manufacturing windows for more than 90 years. The company was
founded in 1919 by Karl Gaulhofer while the proper beginning of industrial window pro-
duction took place in 1963 when it entered the market of producing so-called standard
windows.
In the 1970s, GAULHOFER introduced the first natural wood windows to the market. Soon
afterwards, in 1978, efforts to establish a distribution network in Germany began. Today,
GAULHOFER quality is being delivered as far as Russia and Canada. In order to directly
cater to the growing market of PVC windows, GAULHOFER opened a production facility in
Mäder (Vorarlberg province).
In the mid-1990s, GAULHOFER was the first company to offer wood-aluminum windows
for private customers and since the year 2000, GAULHOFER ranks among Europe’s lar-
gest suppliers. In 2005, GAULHOFER adapted the advantages of the bonding technology
commonly used in the automotive and aeronautic industries to windows which led to the
birth of GLASSLINE, the model without a sash frame.
In 2011, GAULHOFER presented VISIONLINE: A new, frameless all-glass system that
properly insulates and seals. Until 2013, the entire GAULHOFER range executed in wood,
wood-aluminum, uPVC and uPVC-aluminum was renewed.
The end of 2014 / beginning of 2015 saw the introduction of GAULHOFER INLINE – a new
generation of windows with matured construction physics completely flush both on the
inside and outside.
