The Apollo 13 case study details how the crew dealt with an oxygen tank explosion that rendered the service module unusable, forcing them to rely on the lunar module as a lifeboat for power and resources. They had to conserve the command module's resources for essential reentry while the lunar module powered their return. Fortunately, the remaining oxygen tank allowed for a slow depletion, enabling power for two hours to strategize a safe return to Earth.
