represents OCH3
• Decoupling of protons at δ 5.75 causes the
multiplet at δ 5.45 to collapse to four peaks and
the double t at δ 5 to form sharp singlet peak
• Similarly, decoupling of protons at δ 5.45 causes
the multiplet at δ 5.75 to collapse to doublets and
the pair of doublets at δ 4.45 and δ 3.77 to two
doublets
