THE CHALLENGE
Liberty Global were looking to hire a Test Manager into their office in the Netherlands. They needed someone who could speak Dutch
but also wanted someone with international experience. A suitable candidate proved hard to find and the role remained open for five
months. The delay in finding a Test Manager had resulted in major delays within the business and major process issues. For this

THE SOLUTION
Vine Resources qualified the role with an hour long discussion with Mike Verner, Senior Manager CIO IT Deployment at Liberty Global
Netherlands. The team took the time to understand why the role had been open so long and what had been missing from candidates
they had seen in the past. Within 72 hours Vine Resources had put together a shortlist of four candidates that fit the brief.

Of those on the shortlist Liberty Global invited two candidates to interview. Vine Resources managed the interview process
throughout including organising a telephone interview for a candidate who was travelling at the time and a face to face interview
when he returned. The candidate fit the brief perfectly and has now started in the role. The impact on the business was felt

Liberty Global were looking to hire a BSS Solution Architect with a background in mobile and MVNO to take on a role with a heavy
work load and fast paced activity. It was critical that someone was found with the exact match of skills and experience so that they
could really hit the ground running and not delay the project while they settle in. The role required a broad mix of skills and a
candidate was needed that met every one of the requirements.

Huawei UK won a major contract with Virgin Media - to help the telecom operator replace its legacy business support system (BSS)
with leading-edge technology. But Huawei needed a unique individual to join its team: a solutions architect and project manager
rolled into one, as the design and delivery elements were inseparable.
THE SOLUTION
Huawei UK asked Vine Resources for help. "They provide a fast response and were well qualified to meet the challenge," explains Tu
Kuo, IT Manage Service Delivery Director at WEU (Huawei WEU). After an extensive search, Vine found 15-20 possible candidates and
then narrowed this to a short-list of seven. After seeing their CVs, Huawei interviewed five people. Face-to-face interviews took place
in the UK, followed by video-conferencing with Huawei's decision-making team across Europe. Interviews then took place with
Huawei's HR team.

A hard to fill role requiring a specific mix of skills and experience
THE CHALLENGE
Huawei’s Western European HQ were looking for a Business Readiness Consultant for a new business readiness framework for client
projects across Europe. They were looking for a candidate with experience of business process frameworks and implementing these
frameworks within telecoms operators. Having been unable to find a candidate with the skills required, the role had been open for a
number of months which was impeding other business critical projects.
THE SOLUTION
The Vine Resources team conducted a 45 minute conference call with the directors at Huawei to understand exactly why the position
had been open for so long and what challenges the team had been experiencing in trying to fill the role. We then conducted an
extensive search across the whole of Europe to find a candidate that had the skills and experience required.

Two candidates were shortlisted and both were interviewed. Vine Resources managed the entire three stage interview process and

THE CHALLENGE
The client was looking to hire a number of IPTV Solution Architects at varying levels of seniority. IPTV is a booming industry and as
such Solution Architects with a great deal of experience are difficult to find and hard to lure away from high paying roles. As it is a new
area for Huawei Germany, they were a little unsure on the specific requirements for each role and how the newly created team would
all work together.
THE SOLUTION
Due to our market knowledge and experience Vine Resources were able to help Huawei Germany build a specification for each role.
By discussing the specifications for IPTV Solutions Architects we have placed in the past, we were able to give them an idea of what
the role requires and what remuneration packages they might offer. Having hired into similar roles in the past, we already had a
network of professionals that we could approach to see if they would be interested.

We were able to quickly find a number of suitable candidates. The first candidate was quickly taken through the interview process and
hired in a senior role. Since then we have found and placed a number of other candidates within the team who will be starting early

Huawei’s business had increased in the Netherlands with their converged network solution for KPN. Huawei needed to build their
local team onsite and needed to find a European based Senior IP Network Architect who not only had a strong background within an
operator but understand the challenges of interfacing with clients from the vendors side.

arranged to ensure we had clarity on the role; targets and the recruitment process. A list of target candidates were put together and

THE CHALLENGE
KPMG needed a senior operations engineer for a key role based in Holland: providing infrastructure support and deployment for its
global network of 145,000 people across 150 countries. This new, business-critical position also included managing vendor partners
and helping to ensure the smooth-running of KPMG's global data centre operations for Europe, the Americas and the Asia/Pacific
regions. However, local recruitment agencies in Holland failed to identify a single candidate over a 4-6 month period.
THE SOLUTION
KPMG turned to Vine Resources for help. "We had good experiences using Vine Resources for previous IT recruitment assignments:

UK, Vine has global capabilities and so finding a candidate for Holland was not an issue. However, Vine recognised that the right blend

Delivering rare skills within challenging timescales
THE CHALLENGE
Tech Mahindra are providing an outsource solution to a major cable TV provider in Netherlands. This particular project required
professional contract resource to develop the clients order management solution – ConceptWave to fit with the client’s business
needs and system designs. ConceptWave skills are rare and the challenge was to source and secure talent that is not generally
available on the open market.
THE SOLUTION
It was clear early on that we would need to source overseas resource for the project and we soon identified similar projects from
which to draw resource. Our experienced resource team appealed to our extensive network and used their headhunting skills to
attract and shortlist a number of suitable candidates for Tech M to interview. Due to the rare skill set required many of the candidates
had to be sourced from permanent roles and therefore needed to be coached on the process for contracting. This included sourcing
compliant working solutions for all contractors and helping to make the transition from permanent employment to contracting as

Tele2 needed a Siebel business analyst for a critical project - the roll-out of a new European CRM system across the company's
regional businesses. However, there was a major challenge: the project team conducted their daily meetings in Russian, so a fluent
speaker was needed. Siebel/CRM professionals with this ability were scarce in Latvia and elsewhere in the EU, while possible

Spectacular outcome, as Verizon gets more than it hoped for
THE CHALLENGE
Verizon were implementing a global billing solution and urgently needed an additional specialist to join their programme team in the
UK. The company wanted a designer/developer with 5-10 years' experience - but this needed to be in the niche area of Singl.eView
technology. Such skills were becoming harder to find but Vine Resources located a candidate that was perfectly suited to the job.
THE SOLUTION
Vine Resources conducted a search of consultants with Singl.eView experience. The team identified 400 Singl.eView consultants
globally and then narrowed this down to 100 candidates with the right experience. Each was contacted individually and assessed for
their suitability, availability, desire and interest. Ultimately, Vine Resources presented Verizon with two CVs within 24 hours! Both
candidates were interviewed but one stood out. Not only had Vine Resources found someone with extensive Singl.eView experience
and capabilities - but this candidate had worked for Verizon before, making him an ideal fit with the culture and goals of the company.

The candidate’s selection was the perfect outcome for all parties. Although a Canadian national, he had the right to work in the UK

Vodafone / O2 are investing in their network across the UK. There has been demand from the business to increase the network
capacity with a 2G, 3G and 4G refresh. Due to already demanding workloads on existing staff a contractor was required to join one of
the regional team based out of Glasgow, Scotland working for John McCracken.

Due to our market knowledge and experience Vine Resources were approached to source a contractor. During the briefing call we

Within the eCare online team they need at short notice a Change lead who could provide analysis, planning and management of
Business Readiness activities and ensure the wider business teams were ready to exploit the new Online capabilities. The role not
only required an experience change Lead who had worked in a matrix management environment with strong communication skills
and the ability to produce training needs and benefits analysis reports for the business.

Vodafone required a billing process manager for a business-critical project to introduce Single European Payments Area (SEPA), the
European Union's payment-integration initiative for simpler of bank transfers in Euros. The company needed a talented individual to

A hard to fill, business critical role in an area of growth

Having bought a leading timesheet expense management company, Vodafone Global Enterprise experienced rapid growth in the
business and required a Programme Delivery Manager in their New York office to support and deliver on this growth.

THE CHALLENGE
Vodafone were looking to hire a Software Delivery Project Manager for a high profile and ambitious project. It was necessary that the
candidate not only have the required skills and experience but also fit well within the company. While the skills and experience they
were looking for are relatively common amongst contract workers, finding someone with the correct skills and experience that was
willing to take on a permanent position was a big challenge, especially with the limited budget available.
THE SOLUTION
Vine Resources went out to its extensive network in search of someone that perfectly met the job brief. Within a matter of days Vine
Resources had found four candidates that matched the specification. Of these four candidates, all were invited to interview. Over a
very short period the candidates were taken through three stages of interview and the successful candidate was offered and accepted
the job.

Three CVs, three interviews, as Vine fast-tracks process for Oracle
THE CHALLENGE
Oracle needed an exceptional candidate for a pivotal role at a critical time: its major new business support system (BSS) for Vodafone
in the UK was mid-delivery and needed a seasoned programme manager with gravitas to make an instant impact. But the role was
complex, demanding tact and diplomacy: the chosen individual had to work with an array of partners, stakeholders and other third
parties - as well as Vodafone - often liaising at CIO level.
THE SOLUTION
Oracle turned to Vine Resources for help. “I received a recommendation from colleagues that had used Vine previously,” says Eric
Mcadam, Practice Director EMEA, Oracle Communications Consulting. “The initial conversations with Vine gave me confidence that
they understood my requirements of both the role and candidate whilst demonstrating an understanding of environment the
consultant would ultimately work within.” Vine quickly identified three strong candidates with a working knowledge of the Oracle
stack, BSS and the Vodafone landscape. Based on their CVs, all three were invited for on-site and telephone interviews.
THE RESULT
Within two weeks of the initial brief, Oracle had their new Programme Manager in place. “The quality of candidates, speed of
response and the process were important factors and ones that were fulfilled by Vine Resources,” explains Eric Mcadam. “All
candidates proposed were a close match to the requirements, resumes were provided rapidly and within the timeframes agreed. The

'Best of both' candidate selected for key Virgin Media BSS programme THE CHALLENGE Huawei UK won a major contract with Virgin Media - to help the telecom operator replace its legacy business support system (BSS) with leading-edge technology. But Huawei needed a unique individual to join its team: a solutions architect and project manager rolled into one, as the design and delivery elements were inseparable. A hard to fill role requiring a specific mix of skills and experience THE CHALLENGE Huawei’s Western European HQ were looking for a Business Readiness Consultant for a new business readiness framework for client projects across Europe. They were looking for a candidate with experience of business process frameworks and implementing these frameworks within telecoms operators. Having been unable to find a candidate with the skills required, the role had been open for a number of months which was impeding other business critical projects. THE SOLUTION The Vine Resources team conducted a 45 minute conference call with the directors at Huawei to understand exactly why the position had been open for so long and what challenges the team had been experiencing in trying to fill the role.   • 6. Sourcing in demand IPTV professionals for Huawei Germany THE CHALLENGE The client was looking to hire a number of IPTV Solution Architects at varying levels of seniority. IPTV is a booming industry and as such Solution Architects with a great deal of experience are difficult to find and hard to lure away from high paying roles. As it is a new area for Huawei Germany, they were a little unsure on the specific requirements for each role and how the newly created team would all work together. THE SOLUTION Due to our market knowledge and experience Vine Resources were able to help Huawei Germany build a specification for each role. By discussing the specifications for IPTV Solutions Architects we have placed in the past, we were able to give them an idea of what the role requires and what remuneration packages they might offer. Huawei needed to build their local team onsite and needed to find a European based Senior IP Network Architect who not only had a strong background within an operator but understand the challenges of interfacing with clients from the vendors side. Vine Resources provide fast response when other recruitment agencies struggle THE CHALLENGE KPMG needed a senior operations engineer for a key role based in Holland: providing infrastructure support and deployment for its global network of 145,000 people across 150 countries. This new, business-critical position also included managing vendor partners and helping to ensure the smooth-running of KPMG's global data centre operations for Europe, the Americas and the Asia/Pacific regions. However, local recruitment agencies in Holland failed to identify a single candidate over a 4-6 month period. THE SOLUTION KPMG turned to Vine Resources for help.   • 10. Delivering rare skills within challenging timescales THE CHALLENGE Tech Mahindra are providing an outsource solution to a major cable TV provider in Netherlands. This particular project required professional contract resource to develop the clients order management solution – ConceptWave to fit with the client’s business needs and system designs. ConceptWave skills are rare and the challenge was to source and secure talent that is not generally available on the open market. THE SOLUTION It was clear early on that we would need to source overseas resource for the project and we soon identified similar projects from which to draw resource. Our experienced resource team appealed to our extensive network and used their headhunting skills to attract and shortlist a number of suitable candidates for Tech M to interview. Three days, three CVs, three interviews ... and specialist role is filled THE CHALLENGE Vodafone required a billing process manager for a business-critical project to introduce Single European Payments Area (SEPA), the European Union's payment-integration initiative for simpler of bank transfers in Euros. The company needed a talented individual to join its team in DĂźsseldorf, Germany.
