Product Overview
• The immune system is the human body’s natural defense against diseases and infection. The immune system is made up of many
cells that help the body fight against diseases and infections. Lymphocyte, a type of white blood cell, forms the major part of the
immune system. There are three types of lymphocytes:
 B Lymphocytes or B Cells: They produce antibodies to help the body fight against infection.
 T Lymphocytes or T Cells: They have several functions, including directly killing the infected body cells and helping B cells to
produce antibodies.
 Natural Killer Cells (NK Cells): They control different types of tumors and infections by directly attacking the infected cells and
eliminating viruses.
 Immunotherapy has emerged as an effective treatment option in fighting chronic diseases such as cancer. Immunotherapy
improves the body's overall ability to identify and kill cancer cells.
 CAR-T Cell Therapy is a new form of immunotherapy wherein T Cells are altered to specifically target the cancer cells. CAR-T Cell
Therapy begins at the healthcare facilities by collecting and harvesting blood cells from the patient through apheresis. The collected
cells are then taken to a laboratory or a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility, wherein they are genetically engineered. DNA is
introduced on the collected T Cells to produce chimeric antigen receptors (CARs) on the surface of the cells. CARs are proteins that
allow the T cells to recognize an antigen on targeted tumor cells. After this genetic alteration, the T Cells are known as Chimeric
Antigen Receptor or CAR T Cells. These engineered CAR T Cells are further multiplied in the laboratory and then frozen. The frozen
cells are then sent to the hospital or treatment center where the patient is being treated. The CAR T Cells are thawed at the
treatment center or hospital and then infused into the patient.
• At present, there are only 5 CAR-T Cell Therapies approved by the FDA. These include YESCARTA (Axicabtagene Ciloleucel),
KYMRIAH (Tisagenlecleucel), TECARTUS (Brexucabtagene Autoleucel), BREYANZI (Lisocabtagene Maraleucel), ABECMA
(Idecabtagene Vicleucel). However, CAR-T Cell therapies are made available to patients participating in a clinical trial for
indications or cancers other than the FDA (Food and Drug Administration)-approved indications.

The immune system is made up of many cells that help the body fight against diseases and infections. Lymphocyte, a type of white blood cell, forms the major part of the immune system. There are three types of lymphocytes:  B Lymphocytes or B Cells: They produce antibodies to help the body fight against infection.  T Lymphocytes or T Cells: They have several functions, including directly killing the infected body cells and helping B cells to produce antibodies.  Natural Killer Cells (NK Cells): They control different types of tumors and infections by directly attacking the infected cells and eliminating viruses.  Immunotherapy has emerged as an effective treatment option in fighting chronic diseases such as cancer. Immunotherapy improves the body's overall ability to identify and kill cancer cells.  CAR-T Cell Therapy is a new form of immunotherapy wherein T Cells are altered to specifically target the cancer cells. CAR-T Cell Therapy begins at the healthcare facilities by collecting and harvesting blood cells from the patient through apheresis. The collected cells are then taken to a laboratory or a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility, wherein they are genetically engineered. DNA is introduced on the collected T Cells to produce chimeric antigen receptors (CARs) on the surface of the cells. CARs are proteins that allow the T cells to recognize an antigen on targeted tumor cells. After this genetic alteration, the T Cells are known as Chimeric Antigen Receptor or CAR T Cells.
