Career Summary and Goals
I have a vast amount of transferable skills from the many years of working in the healthcare
field. These skills will make me a valuable addition to the Counselling/Human Services
industry. I am passionate about helping others and I have a proven record of working with a
diverse population. I strongly believe in advocating for and supporting people in vulnerable
demographic.
I have had the good fortune to travel throughout Europe while living in Ireland for ten years.
This experience was incredible and allowed me to immerse myself in the various cultures. It was
also a very humbling experience. I developed many strong relationships with the people that
were under my care while in Ireland. I enjoyed championing for them and being a big part of
their day to day life experiences.
I am no stranger to the effects that trauma, addictions and abuse can have on people. My
personal life has seen this as well as my professional life. As a former L.P.N. I found myself
often caring for patients that were suffering this as well. I just wanted to help them feel better.
This is why I have chosen to train to be a professional counsellor.
I want to have the skills necessary to be a positive influence in others’ lives. I want to be a part
of a community initiative that wants and believes in a better, healthier society. I have many of
the skills necessary to do this and have a high regard for the importance of confidentiality and
being neutral.
My goals for the next 5 years include making a positive difference to people by being in a
supportive role as a trauma counsellor. I would like to utilize my hypnotherapy training as well
by marrying it with my counsellor training. It is my way of giving back within a field that I am
passionate about.
