Career Feedback Report for Farzaan Momtahen
Coping with the Demands of Work
You are capable of dealing very effectively with the routine, day-to-day stressors such as time pressure, difficult working
conditions and heavy workloads. These routine, ongoing stressors do notcause you difficulty. Even occasional high levels of
stress are not too difficult for you to deal with. You demonstrate the emotional control and optimism to sustain strong
performance in spite of the daily stresses of work. Your approach to work reflects a strong ability to recover from setbacks
and sustain consistentwork performance under stressful conditions while remaining open to change that others often resist.
You are able to control emotional reactions to disappointing results that would discourage many others. You are generally
quite optimistic and confidentabout performing well. Even when discouraged by setbacks, your self-confidence and optimism
will enable a fairly quick recovery. This is an important strength that will help your performance in a wide range of work
situations you approach change at work like most people in that you are willing to accept and support most typical, minor
changes at work. However, for more significant changes, it is also important that you understand why change is important
before you are willing to give it your full support. You are not one of those people who supports every change justbecause
somebody asked you to. While you are not skeptical of change itself, you do want to know how it will benefit you and your
work.
Working with Others
Your work style is very well suited to working in teams. in highly interactively groups and in one-on-one relationships. You find
it easy to cooperate and share accountability with others and enjoy working in the company of others. Where there are
significant differences between group members, you are capable of adapting where necessary to avoid conflict. You do not
seemto have a strong preference forworking with others or for working independently.Youare independentand self-assured
enough to work effectively as an individual contributor and, yet, you have the interpersonal skills and openness to work
effectively in team or group settings. Your preference for one or the other is likely to depend on the particular circumstances.
Like many people, you demonstrate the skills necessary to work effectively in mosttypes ofservice relationships thatdo not
demand high levels ofresilience againstdifficult situations. In most cases, you are comfortable cooperating with others and
are willing to make some effort to see others' points of view. In difficult service relationships, however, negative outcomes
may discourage you because you can't always control the reactions of other people.
Getting Things Done
You have an intense drive to achieve results and be successful. This is fueled by a willingness to be assertive and by a high
activity level.Beyondthat, youare willing to take risks in orderto getlarge rewards and youhave the self-confidence to persist
in spite of obstacles. You enjoy a challenging problem or objective and certainly have the determination to find successful
solutions. You appear to be a savvy worker who knows how to get things done in your work setting. It is one thing to want to
achieve results but you also know how to use the resources around you and be organized enough to actually get things
accomplished. You have a high level of "know how" thatenables work to getdone efficiently and on time. You understand the
importance of careful planning and organizing to ensure that everything necessary for success is accounted for. You show
every indication ofbeing a smart worker who is a quick study when problems arise. This ability to recognize when problems
occurand quickly determine solutions enablesyouto keep work goingforward with little orno interruption in spite ofobstacles.
In part, this is because you are confident in your own abilities.
Leading and Influencing
Your work style is to take on leadership roles in a wide variety ofsituations. This style comes from a deep self-confidence and
a strong desire to achieve success. Equally important, you have a strong self-awareness and openness to feedback from
others and other learning opportunities. This combination of confidence, drive, and openness enables you to be a highly
effective leader. You have shown a mix ofattributes relating to the consideration you show others atwork. This consideration
ofothers is an important aspectofyour leadership effectiveness. You have shown that you are open to understanding others'
perspectives and needs butyou are not always willing to place the collective interests ofothers above your own. Also, you
sometimes are willing to miss commitments you have made to others ifyou have to choose between those commitments and
other responsibilities that are more important to you. Even if not in a leadership role, you have the subtle skills needed to
successfully influence others. These include the unusual combination ofbeing strong minded and willing to be assertive while
also being adaptable and willing to change approaches, ifnecessary. You are optimistic about being able to influence people
and are willing to take some risk to accomplish that.
Growth and Workplace Citizenship
Your strengths regarding personal developmentand contributions to your work place are based on a strong willingness to
acceptpersonal accountability for your actions at work. This accountability extends to your work achievements, the help you
provide to peopleinyourwork place, and for yourown ongoing personal developmentatwork.Atthe core ofthis accountability
is your strong dependability and self- control. You feel a strong obligation to do the right thing and to be a positive influence.
This strength will serve you well in virtually any type ofwork environment. Part ofyour balanced approach to work is that you
do notfeel the need to adhere to higher standards of work place behavior than you observe in others around you. Your style
is to follow rules and guidelines and to look outfor the interests of others to the same extentas others do. There might even
be occasions where you bend or ignore the rules in order to accomplish some desired personal resultif you see that same
behavior among others. This perspective will serve you well in work environments where people are expected to make their
own success. Your balanced outlook leads you to be willing to help others and spend effort on behalf of co-workers, unless
this is not in your bestinterests. When this type ofeffort is not rewarded, you are likely to spend less time and effort helping
others. You see the importance ofhelpfulness in the work place butdon'twantto be the one who sacrifices more than anyone
else for this type ofeffort. This balanced work style will serve you well in work settings where the organization doesn'treally
reward helpfulness in any meaningful way.
Creativity (Creative Stimulator v. Conventional Accomplisher)
Your work style is comfortable with creative and innovative work activities, although there are limits. Consistent with that, you
are willing to work in new, uncharted areas where less is known as long as there are clear expectations aboutthe objectives
and limitations. Like mostpeople, you can be creative in some situations while enjoying the structure of other situations. You
have a strong preference for work that is structured. With established order and procedures. Novel or frequently changing
work situations that require new ways ofworking are not likely to fit with your preference for consistent, reliable settings. You
would be uncomfortable in this type of challenging, uncharted work where approaches that worked yesterday may notwork
today. While you are willing to take some risks atwork, there must be a significant amount ofinformation aboutthe degree of
risk and the possible results before youwould feelcomfortable with the decision.Youfind some levelsofstimulation enjoyable
but you don't try to seek out stimulating problems just for the sake of stimulation.
Work Style
You have a flexible work style. You enjoy working in jobs that are not highly structured but with enough to ensure that the
direction and available resources are sufficientto be successful. Atthe same time, you are willing to work closely with others
or independently as the work may require. You would likely notenjoy extreme work conditions where there is no structure or
very rigid structure. Your personal rewards and satisfaction appear to come from a variety of sources including belonging to
a supportive organization and performing work that is intrinsically interesting regardless of whether it is with others or not.
Work Interests (People, Data, Things)
Youdescribe strong interests inanalytic work with data as wellas "hands on" work with things and only somewhatless interest
in working with people. This diverse profile ofinterests in all three of these types ofwork is somewhatunusual but provides a
clear indication that you are a person who will find interest in virtually any type of work. A moderate interest in working with
people reflects the importance of interpersonal relationships in the work place and also demonstrates your likely confidence
in working with others. At the same time, you are even more strongly interested in the analytical and problem solving aspects
of working with data. This more intellectual and abstract aspectof work is also very appealing to you and likely reflects your
trust and interest in facts and details as a basis for making decisions at work. Along with people and data, you express a
strong interestin working with things such as machinery and tools. This interest reflects an enjoymentofwork that is typically
more "hands on" or manual and less analytical or interpersonal.
Team Orientation
You are able to function effectively in group situations, although this is not a distinctive strength for you. You can be
cooperative butin some situations you don'thave a greatinterestin working with others. In some cases, you will pursue your
own direction rather than adapt to others. You can be effective in jobs thatinvolve teamwork but would prefer jobs where you
had to work in teams only occasionally.
Consideration For Others
Like most people, you sometimes put your own interests ahead of co-workers. In other situations, you will put coworkers'
interests ahead of your own. You certainly can be cooperative and frequently are, butyou don'tfeel the need to cooperate in
all cases. Also, there may be some situations, such as when you don'ttrust others around you, where you may do something
different than what you said you would do. Overall, you can be counted on by others in most situations.
Independence
You are equally capable ofworking in team settings and individual-contributors settings. You don'thave a strong preference
for one over the other. At the same time, you don'thave a strong desire to set your own direction and you are not strongly
self-motivated to achieve results on your own. For this reason, you are better suited to a work environment where, in most
cases, you would be working with others who set the direction.
Influencing Others
You can be a very influential person. You have the attributes necessary to influence others when you want to. You can adapt
to circumstances while also being assertive. You want to be successful and are persistentand willing to take some risks to
achieve that success. Combined together, these attributes enable you to influence others. This is a powerful strength that will
serve you well in any line of work in which you would be working with others.
Drive
You have one of the most important attributes an employee can possess. You are highly motivated to achieve results and
create positive outcomes. You think of yourselfas very effective and you are confidentin your ability to succeed. You take
greatsatisfaction in getting results and are quite willing to provide direction to others to achieve those results. While you don't
need to work independently,youhighlevelofself-motivationwould enable youto succeed as partof a team as wellas working
on your own. You would be an excellent fit for jobs that reward a strong motivation to succeed.
Preference for Structure
Youprefer work that is somewhere betweenahighly dynamic and unstructured environmentand one that is highly predictable
and routine. While you would enjoy the challenge ofa job thatoccasionally has unexpected demands,a highly unpredictable,
ever changing environmentwould be discouraging and uncomfortable for you. Similarly, you are not the type ofperson who
is content to do the same routine task day in and day out with little or no change. That environmentis likely to be boring for
you.
Risk Tolerance
You have a moderate approach to risk-taking in the workplace. You are willing to take risks where the possible failure is not
too great. At the same time, you are not a risk seeker. You prefer other approaches to trying to achieve success. Generally,
when you have experienced pastfailures you will work hard to avoid taking the same risk again. You are well suited to most
types of jobs but certain high-risk, high-reward jobs would not be a good choice for you.
Interest in People
Your interest in working with people is mixed. While you don't object to working with people, your satisfaction with work does
not depend very muchonwhether you work with people.Otherthings aboutwork are likely to be more important. Yourinterest
is sufficient to allow you to be successful in a wide range of jobs that do notplace great weight on interpersonal interactions,
especially challenging relationships.
Interest in Data
You have a very strong interestin work that involves the analysis ofdata, facts and information. You seem to enjoy gathering
data, analyzing it and drawing conclusions from the facts. You probably have strong analytical skills and enjoy using them to
investigate problems or issues.
Interest in Things
You have a strong interest in working with things that you can handle and manipulate. You enjoy "hands-on" work and are
curious about how things work. You like to be creative by shaping or building things that represent your own handiwork.
Organization
You are unusually good atcreating detailed plans that enable work to getdone on time, as planned. You place high value on
the importance of details and believe this is an important requirementfor success at work. You are the person other people
at work would turn to if they needed a highly organized plan for complex and challenging work. Your ability and interest in
careful planning is an important attribute that will serve you well in a wide variety of work environments.
Innovativeness
You can work in environments that are frequently changing or ones that are well-established and routine. Your preference
would be for a moderately steady work environment that does notconstantly require new creative solutions. You are better
suited to work that requires the same thing from you mostofthe time, although you do enjoy the occasional opportunity to be
creative.
Learning and Problem Solving
You enjoy solving complex problems to achieve results quickly. You are a quick learner who has little difficulty mastering new
information. As a result of these strengths, you enjoy the challenge of complex or new situations at work. You would be
successful in a work environment that requires people to process complex information and make accurate decisions based
on that information.
Reliability and Consistency
You are a very dependable person atwork. People know they can rely on you and you won'tdisappointthem. You do notlet
major problems at work interfere with your performance or your commitments to others. You have the ability to keep your
energy up even when discouraging things happen. A primary reason for this strength is that you take the time to reflecton
your own strengths and weaknesses to improve your effectiveness.
Openness to Change / Ambiguity
Your ability and willingness to accept change is typical of most people. Some changes appear worthwhile to you; other
changes do not. You do not believe in supporting change for change sake. It is important to you that you understand and
agree with changes before you will supportthem. For the same reasons, you expectpeople to make work decisions thatare
clear and unambiguous. You can be effective in organizations where there is not a great deal of change or ambiguity.
Recovery from Setbacks
You are more able than mostto quickly recover from occasional setbacks atwork. Your ability to quickly recover your energy
after negative outcomes is based on your optimism, resilience and self-awareness. Exceptin extreme cases, you do notlet
setbacks interfere with your performance. You are able to control your emotional reactions to most circumstances at work.
This is an unusual strength that is valuable in many different work settings.
Stress Tolerance
Youhave an unusual ability to handle stressful situations at work.Nobody likes stress, butyouare able to cope very effectively
by keeping your emotions in check and recognizing thatyou will be able to deal with stressful situations. While you don'tseek
out stressful situations, you are able to maintain a positive perspective and don't letthings bother you too much. This allows
you to maintain consistent levels of performance even in the face of challenging situations.
Self-Regulating
You have a greatdeal of self-insight. You know yourselfwell and are comfortable with yourself. For that reason, one ofyour
distinctive strengths is that you accept accountability for your own actions. You do not try to "explain" or excuse your own
behavior, especially when it has created a problem. You are aware of your own strengths and weaknesses so you know the
limits of your abilities. This strength is very likely to lead to continual growth in your own work effectiveness. This is a strength
that is valued in virtually all jobs and situations.
Service Orientation
You have a mix of attributes that influence your success working with others. In many cases, you are cooperative and willing
to tolerate the occasional frustration of working with others. In some other cases, however, you prefer notto spend the energy
to deal with other people's problems. You are like most people in this regard. Even with customers who you handle well
usually, sometimes you will put your interests ahead of theirs' if that seems appropriate to you.
Takes Leadership
You appear to be a good leader atwork, and have an interestin leadership roles. You see yourselfas a leader and are willing
to assert yourself where necessary. You enjoy influencing others. While many prefer to stay in the background, you enjoy
taking on the responsibility of providing direction to the others. You are well suited to leadership roles.
