The word ‘Pharmacy’ has two meanings :
General sense- it is a place or shop where drugs or
medicines or sold.
Professional sense- it is the profession, the members of
which deals with the drugs.

Production or manufacture of bulk drugs, intermediates,

products.
The role of the production pharmacist is to manufacture and
pack the quality products as per market demand and their
timely delivery to the finished goods store. The major role of
the production pharmacist is to control the workflow and
maintain cGMP in the area.

12. QUALITY ASSURANCE
Quality Assurance professionals are responsible for the step-by-step process
of ensuring goods and services meet specific quality, efficacy and safety
requirements.

13. R & D
•Pharmacists play an important role in the research and development of new
drugs and therapies. They work closely with scientists and medical
professionals to ensure that new medications are safe and effective.
•This type of pharmacist typically works in a pharmaceutical company or a
hospital research laboratory. In order to become a research and
development pharmacist, one must first complete a Pharm. D.
program and then complete a residency or fellowship in research and
development pharmacy.

14. QUALITY CONTROL
Pharmacists are deputed in the quality control section where samples
for testing are drawn from raw material, packing material and
finished products.
After R&D large number of people works in the QC department
Performing stability testing to assess product stability.
Preparing analysis reports for the tested samples, and recording and
investigating any results that are Out Of Specifications (OOS)

15. PACKAGING
•After manufacturing, the semi-finished product is shifted to the
packaging area where the packaging pharmacist takes
the responsibility and hands over the products to the finished good
store after proper packing and release by the Quality Assurance
department.

employees.
Full time bachelor degree is required for pursuing clinical
research associate.

20. GOVERNMENT JOBS
Pharmacists work in drug control department in various sections. The
CDSCO (central drug standard drug control organisation) is the
central body in India for drug control and each state has its own drug
control department.
Drug inspector : B pharma with 18 month of experience in
manufacturing or testing of schedule C or C1 drugs.
They carry out inspections, and are involved in giving clinical trails
approval, manufacturing approval, market approvals etc and some
work in drug testing laboratory are associated with drug control
department.

21. After completion of the B Pharmacy course, there are a lot of government
options that open.
