Wayfinding: Navigating the Creation of a Pairing of Two Across Discipline Cou...
This document summarizes a pilot program called "Wayfinding" that paired two courses, a developmental reading course and a history course on Micronesia, into a compressed schedule with team teaching. Data showed low completion rates for students who took the reading course followed by the history course. The Wayfinding program incorporated best practices like culturally relevant pedagogy and team teaching. In the pilot with 10 students, there was a 100% completion rate for both courses. This paper will explore the initial use of a Team Based Learning (TBL) approach in a synchronous on-line basic English grammar course for non-linguistic majors. Team based learning approaches were chosen in order to create a supportive learning community, address students fear of grammar and provide more effective formative assessment.

This paper will explore the initial use of a Team Based Learning (TBL) approach in a synchronous on-line basic English grammar course for non-linguistic majors. Team based learning approaches were chosen in order to create a supportive learning community, address students fear of grammar and provide more effective formative assessment.
