Canadian geese are large waterfowl identifiable by their white chin strap and long black neck. They nest near bodies of water in Canada and northern US, making nests out of sticks, moss, grass, and down in shallow indents. Females sound a high "hink" and males a low "ahonk" to communicate, and females are committed to caring for their babies, defending territory aggressively if needed. Their habitat provides food sources and is also home to other animals, with humans having both positive and negative impacts. Losing members of the food chain could affect the ecosystem.
