Canada was first discovered by Vikings led by Leif Ericson. John Cabot later rediscovered eastern Canada while seeking a new trade route from England in 1497. Some iconic Canadian foods include poutine from Quebec consisting of fries, gravy and cheese, as well as beaver tails and maple syrup. Ice hockey is Canada's national winter sport, with Wayne Gretzky considered the best player ever. Terry Fox, a famous Canadian cancer patient, attempted to run across Canada to raise money for cancer research but unfortunately passed away before completing it.

5. Terry FoxTerry Fox is a famous Canadian. Unfortunately he got cancer in his leg so it was amputated. They gave him an artificial leg. He started running across Canada to raise money for cancer research. He got sick when he was still running and passed away. So every year we do a Terry Fox run to raise money for Cancer.
