Can You
Prove It?
Cryptids and Cryptozoology
Presented by Hiroshi Sosa-Nakata
What is Cryptozoology?
Cryptozoology?! What is Cryptozoology?
Cryptozoology is where you prove (or disprove) things.
Examples:
● Bigfoot
● Loch ness monster
● Non avian dinosaurs
Examples of Cryptids
Explained Case - Loch Ness Monster
Myth:
● Giant lake monster
● Very good at hiding
● Multiple sightings around Ireland
● Subject of recent movie, “The Water Horse”
Explained Case - Bigfoot
Myth:
● Bigfoot (Sasquatch, Yeti, Abominable Snowman)
● Over 7 feet tall (taller than our teacher)
● Very hairy (hairier than our teacher)
● Subject of movie, “Harry and the Hendersons”
Explained Case - Gambo
Myth:
● Discovered corpse washed upon shore
● Thought to be plesiosaur
● Head was cut off and sold to tourists
Let’s Prove It!
How to Prove it!
To prove (or disprove) cryptozoology you can do it in a few steps that I made
myself.
Steps:
1. Examine claim
2. Add common sense
3. Add science!
4. Make a theory
How to Prove it! - Step 1
Examine claim: Does this specimen exist in nature?
How to Prove it! - Step 2
Add common sense: Is this specimen alive?
How to Prove it! - Step 3
Add science: Is this specimen edible?
How to Prove it! - Step 4
Make a theory:
1. If found in nature, this specimen would probably __________?
2. A real animal would __________?
3. If I bit a real animal, it would probably ____________?
How to Prove it! - Step 5
Test and Repeat:
● Would anyone like to test one more time to be sure?
Congratulations!
Congratulations!
You have learned about
cryptozoology.
This is just a fragment and
remember there's always more to
learn.
Thank You.
Gracias. Arigatou.
