Barcelona is working to become a citizen-driven "living lab" city through several initiatives: 1) The Barcelona Lab model encourages innovation from all citizens by connecting communities through high-speed broadband and digital infrastructure. 2) One effort is Fabra i Coats, a cultural space connected at 10Gbps that serves as a node for public WiFi and experimental networks. 3) This connectivity allows citizens to participate in "collective experiments" beyond just providing or consuming data, helping foster citizen science.

the creative and cultural industries catalyst, BcnLab have considered strategic a broadband
interconnection for a cultural creation space (Fabra i Coats).
