shows what really is at
stake if the narrator gives in
to Tyler.
Also with Tyler standing
above the narrator we can
presume that Tyler has the
upper hand and is in
complete control over the
narrator. This makes the
scene more suspenseful as
we the audience want to
know if the narrator will
make it.

This shot of the narrator sitting
on the back of the bus alone
really symbolises how boring
and empty his life is. He has
nothing and no one to be with.
The long rows of seats where
people should be sitting are
empty the bus is coloured grey
which normally equals
boredom or emptiness. And
with the narrator slumped at
the end of the bus it is clear
how fed up he is with his life
and wants a change.
