Letter From The President
Dear Zeta Phi Eta members,
I’ve been National Council President since
2011. That’s a long time to be looked at as the
person responsible for a national, professional
co-ed fraternity for the communications arts
and sciences. I’m lucky enough to work with
phenomenal volunteers on the National Council
to help me along the way.
Beyond all that pressure, it’s an extreme
honor to be able to make sure this organization
makes a difference in not only its members lives
but also the community as a whole.
Zeta Phi Eta is in constant transition. In just the past few years, we’ve
had new chapters form at campuses across the country. We’re excited to
get more people in the Zeta family and involved after graduation. If you’re
interested in getting reconnected with Zeta, please peruse the contact list
in this Cameo issue and inquire. We’d love to have you!
			 In Zeta,
			 Blair Shiff
Our Mission
1. To band together individuals committed to high standards in
communication arts and sciences;
2. To provide opportunities for sharing professional interests
through participation in worthwhile activities in the fields of
communication;
3. To provide a climate in which members may develop sound
professional philosophies; and
4. To stimulate and encourage all worthy enterprises in the
communication fields.

Foundation Update
National Council Updates
Update from the President:
I’m excited to continue on as the Zeta Phi Eta
President. I pledged the Alpha Chapter in the Spring
of 2004 at Emerson College. I’ve been on National
Council since 2009 and National Council President
since 2011. I currently work as the Senior Digital
Producer for KUSA 9NEWS, the NBC station in
Denver, Colo. My goal as National Council President
is to reinvigorate campus chapters and give the campus
chapter members a reason to stay connected to Zeta
Phi Eta after graduation. I also hope to create eternal
professional bonds between members across many
chapters. I need your suggestions on what you’d like
Zeta to do over the next two years. Feel free to email
me at president@zetaphieta.org. Any comments and
suggestions are welcome!
Warmest greetings to all my Zeta brothers and sisters! Your Zeta Phi Eta Foundation is in great shape, and eager
to help you fulfill your Communication Arts and Sciences aspirations, be it completing your education, or going
ahead with that special project.
As you know, Zeta’s Convention is coming up very soon, and we’re happy to offer an opportunity to give more
Zetas the chance to attend. We know many people would like to come to Convention, but money may be an issue.
Therefore, National Council made the decision to allow Zetas to apply for a special Scholarship to help defray
some of the cost.
The rules to apply for this Scholarship are the same as for the usual Foundation Awards and the Marguerite
Garden Jones Award, with one exception: instead of the usual one-year membership requirement to apply, you
only need be a member in good standing for one semester! We hope this will give more Zetas the impetus to apply,
and to attend what is looking to be our best Convention in many years. By the time you read this, we hope to have
received many applications. A Zeta Convention is an event not to be missed, and through the efforts of our good
friends in the Beta Eta chapter at Hofstra University, we know this year’s reunion will be outstanding.
Hope to see you there!
In Zeta,
			 Valerie Glowinski
Update from the Vice President:
I pledged The Alpha Chapter at Emerson College
in Spring 2005. After which I served as Intercampus
Chapter Relations Tzar (clearly a position we made
up) and as Vice President which also happens to be my
position on National Council! I majored in Television
production and spent two years in LA working mostly
on reality television. After a number of happy accidents
I moved into Promotional Marketing where I managed
tours for Microsoft, Coca-Cola, and Little Debbie snack
cakes just to name a few. I’m now working in digital
advertising sales at OwnerIQ in Boston. This summer
we’re working on some new initiatives to get the campus
chapters in more consistent communication so we can
make sure the professional connections of Zeta Phi Eta
expand as far as possible!

Fall 2015
Update from the Webmaster:
I’ve been Zeta’s Webmaster since 2011. I pledged the
Alpha Chapter in the Fall of 1998 at Emerson College.
For two terms I served as the National Historian and I
also oversee our archives. I currently work as the Studio
Manager of the Television Facilities at Emerson College,
which continues to give me opportunity to meet many of
the new Alpha chapter members. The website continues
to evolve and our social media presence continues to
grow. These sites are a key way to connect with our
members from all ages. It also serves as a gateway for
new chapters. More and more of our business can now
be done with the website, this includes dues payment,
applications, scholarships submission and Cameo
submissions. We hope to add more services. My goal is
to continue to make the site friendly and a resource. I’m
always seeking feedback and ideas, so please do let me
know. If you have photos, news or other information
we’ll be happy to share it through our sites. Please take
a look around zetaphieta.org . Content contribution is
really critical for the success of our sites.
Update from the Advisory Board Chair:
I pledged Zeta at Emerson College in my Junior
year because I was impressed by the leadership and
the community spirit that was represented by the Zeta
membership at the time. Zeta became my family for
years to come and I am happy to say that several of my
brothers and sisters have been life long friends. I have
held several positions on the National Council and
currently serve as an Advisory Board Chair. My role
is to advise and guide the National Council members
as we govern the organization. I am a pediatric Speech
Language Pathologist and an Arts Administrator
(trained Stage Manager). My life long passion is to
make art experiences available to all individuals.
Currently, I am working on creating a Creative Arts
Therapy program for children with various abilities,
their siblings and friends, exposing and engaging them
to theatre, dance and visual art. I moved to Minneapolis
a year ago and I love it.
Update from the Central Office Executive Director:
I joined Zeta’s Alpha Chapter in Spring 2009 at
Emerson College. As a campus member, I served on
the executive board and also assisted with initiating
new members in Spring 2011. Currently, I serve on
National Council as the Central Office Director. As
Central Office Director, I mostly collect applications for
membership and maintain our membership database.
As I continue serving Zeta in this capacity, I’d like to
see our database become a better resource for the entire
membership. This resource can assist campus chapter
members who seek to build bonds with our members
across the country and also help professionals reconnect
with their brothers and sisters. If you’re embarking on
a new journey (relocating, graduating, or beginning a
new professional endeavor) or just want to say hi, please
contact me at coed@zetaphieta.org. I would be happy to
help you stay connected with Zeta.

2015 Zeta Foundation Award Recipients
Courtney Keating
Beta Eta Chapter
I am incredibly honored
to be the recipient of the
2015 Zeta Foundation
Award. To represent not
only my chapter but Zeta
nationally is a remarkable
privilege. This money will
help me achieve my career
goals financially as graduation nears this spring. As a
Bachelor of Science in Video and Television, most jobs
ask for a video reel of work. I currently do not have the
resources to make one, so I plan on applying the money
to the purchase of a DSLR Camera and AVID editing
software. Hopefully this reel will help me achieve my
dreams of working for major TV shows in New York
City or Los Angeles. Thank you to all of Zeta Nationals
for making my dreams more of a possibility.
2015 Zeta Scholars
We got to meet our 2015 Zeta Scholars at the North-
western University Honors Convocation. Danica
Rosengren received the Winifred Ward Award, which
is given to a graduate level student that has demon-
strated both intellectual and artistic ability in child
drama and theater. Olivia Cygan received the Zeta Phi
Eta Award, which is given to use on academic course
work or career development that falls within the scope
of Communication Arts and Sciences.

That’s a long time to be looked at as the person responsible for a national, professional co-ed fraternity for the communications arts and sciences. I’m lucky enough to work with phenomenal volunteers on the National Council to help me along the way. Beyond all that pressure, it’s an extreme honor to be able to make sure this organization makes a difference in not only its members lives but also the community as a whole. Zeta Phi Eta is in constant transition. In just the past few years, we’ve had new chapters form at campuses across the country. We’re excited to get more people in the Zeta family and involved after graduation. If you’re interested in getting reconnected with Zeta, please peruse the contact list in this Cameo issue and inquire. We’d love to have you! In Zeta, Blair Shiff Our Mission 1. To band together individuals committed to high standards in communication arts and sciences; 2. To provide opportunities for sharing professional interests through participation in worthwhile activities in the fields of communication; 3. To provide a climate in which members may develop sound professional philosophies; and 4. To stimulate and encourage all worthy enterprises in the communication fields. §
  • 4. 4Cameo Fall 2015 Foundation Update National Council Updates Update from the President: I’m excited to continue on as the Zeta Phi Eta President. I pledged the Alpha Chapter in the Spring of 2004 at Emerson College. I’ve been on National Council since 2009 and National Council President since 2011. I currently work as the Senior Digital Producer for KUSA 9NEWS, the NBC station in Denver, Colo. My goal as National Council President is to reinvigorate campus chapters and give the campus chapter members a reason to stay connected to Zeta Phi Eta after graduation. I also hope to create eternal professional bonds between members across many chapters. I need your suggestions on what you’d like Zeta to do over the next two years. Feel free to email me at president@zetaphieta.org. Any comments and suggestions are welcome! Warmest greetings to all my Zeta brothers and sisters! Your Zeta Phi Eta Foundation is in great shape, and eager to help you fulfill your Communication Arts and Sciences aspirations, be it completing your education, or going ahead with that special project. As you know, Zeta’s Convention is coming up very soon, and we’re happy to offer an opportunity to give more Zetas the chance to attend. We know many people would like to come to Convention, but money may be an issue. Therefore, National Council made the decision to allow Zetas to apply for a special Scholarship to help defray some of the cost. The rules to apply for this Scholarship are the same as for the usual Foundation Awards and the Marguerite Garden Jones Award, with one exception: instead of the usual one-year membership requirement to apply, you only need be a member in good standing for one semester! We hope this will give more Zetas the impetus to apply, and to attend what is looking to be our best Convention in many years. By the time you read this, we hope to have received many applications. A Zeta Convention is an event not to be missed, and through the efforts of our good friends in the Beta Eta chapter at Hofstra University, we know this year’s reunion will be outstanding. Hope to see you there! In Zeta, Valerie Glowinski Update from the Vice President: I pledged The Alpha Chapter at Emerson College in Spring 2005. After which I served as Intercampus Chapter Relations Tzar (clearly a position we made up) and as Vice President which also happens to be my position on National Council! I majored in Television production and spent two years in LA working mostly on reality television. After a number of happy accidents I moved into Promotional Marketing where I managed tours for Microsoft, Coca-Cola, and Little Debbie snack cakes just to name a few. I’m now working in digital advertising sales at OwnerIQ in Boston. This summer we’re working on some new initiatives to get the campus chapters in more consistent communication so we can make sure the professional connections of Zeta Phi Eta expand as far as possible!
  • 5. 5 Cameo Fall 2015 Update from the Webmaster: I’ve been Zeta’s Webmaster since 2011. I pledged the Alpha Chapter in the Fall of 1998 at Emerson College. For two terms I served as the National Historian and I also oversee our archives. I currently work as the Studio Manager of the Television Facilities at Emerson College, which continues to give me opportunity to meet many of the new Alpha chapter members. The website continues to evolve and our social media presence continues to grow. These sites are a key way to connect with our members from all ages. It also serves as a gateway for new chapters. More and more of our business can now be done with the website, this includes dues payment, applications, scholarships submission and Cameo submissions. We hope to add more services. My goal is to continue to make the site friendly and a resource. I’m always seeking feedback and ideas, so please do let me know. If you have photos, news or other information we’ll be happy to share it through our sites. Please take a look around zetaphieta.org . Content contribution is really critical for the success of our sites. Update from the Advisory Board Chair: I pledged Zeta at Emerson College in my Junior year because I was impressed by the leadership and the community spirit that was represented by the Zeta membership at the time. Zeta became my family for years to come and I am happy to say that several of my brothers and sisters have been life long friends. I have held several positions on the National Council and currently serve as an Advisory Board Chair. My role is to advise and guide the National Council members as we govern the organization. I am a pediatric Speech Language Pathologist and an Arts Administrator (trained Stage Manager). My life long passion is to make art experiences available to all individuals. Currently, I am working on creating a Creative Arts Therapy program for children with various abilities, their siblings and friends, exposing and engaging them to theatre, dance and visual art. I moved to Minneapolis a year ago and I love it. Update from the Central Office Executive Director: I joined Zeta’s Alpha Chapter in Spring 2009 at Emerson College. As a campus member, I served on the executive board and also assisted with initiating new members in Spring 2011. Currently, I serve on National Council as the Central Office Director. As Central Office Director, I mostly collect applications for membership and maintain our membership database. As I continue serving Zeta in this capacity, I’d like to see our database become a better resource for the entire membership. This resource can assist campus chapter members who seek to build bonds with our members across the country and also help professionals reconnect with their brothers and sisters. If you’re embarking on a new journey (relocating, graduating, or beginning a new professional endeavor) or just want to say hi, please contact me at coed@zetaphieta.org. I would be happy to help you stay connected with Zeta. National Council Updates §
  • 6. 6Cameo Fall 2015 2015 Zeta Foundation Award Recipients Courtney Keating Beta Eta Chapter I am incredibly honored to be the recipient of the 2015 Zeta Foundation Award. To represent not only my chapter but Zeta nationally is a remarkable privilege. This money will help me achieve my career goals financially as graduation nears this spring. As a Bachelor of Science in Video and Television, most jobs ask for a video reel of work. I currently do not have the resources to make one, so I plan on applying the money to the purchase of a DSLR Camera and AVID editing software. Hopefully this reel will help me achieve my dreams of working for major TV shows in New York City or Los Angeles. Thank you to all of Zeta Nationals for making my dreams more of a possibility. 2015 Zeta Scholars We got to meet our 2015 Zeta Scholars at the North- western University Honors Convocation. Danica Rosengren received the Winifred Ward Award, which is given to a graduate level student that has demon- strated both intellectual and artistic ability in child drama and theater. Olivia Cygan received the Zeta Phi Eta Award, which is given to use on academic course work or career development that falls within the scope of Communication Arts and Sciences. From left to right: Gail West, Linda Gates, Danica Rosengren, Olivia Cygan (Zeta Phi Eta Award), Lynn Carver, Valerie Glowinski §§ On Shiu Alpha Chapter The other 2015 Zeta FoundationAward recipient was On Shiu, of the Alpha Chapter. This award has helped him to further his communication goals by pursuing Scene Study and Monologue class. §
